AC told he may never have another major injury

Andy CarrollDavid Gold is again singing the praises of Irons record signing Andy Carroll.

The co chairman believes that the big fella deserves all the credit in the world for fighting his way back from injury and has regularly leapt to the player’s defence publicly.

Carroll was not risked at Sunderland yesterday after suffering bruising to an ankle during last weekend’s match against Norwich City.

The club insist it isn’t serious and that he will be available after the international break but in the meantime DG has been responding on twitter to the player’s injury problems.

He said: “Carroll is the bests English centre forward of his type imo. He could easily go the rest of his career without a major injury. dg.”

He was also delighted with the team’s recovery at the Stadium of Light yesterday after going two down adding:”Great fight back after falling behind to Sunderland our fans were magnificent. dg”

  1. Sounds like a sales pitch to me !!!!

  2. … but then again!

  3. we should get rid while he is still standing he dont score enough goals for a striker he don’t fit into Bilich system to slow and an injury waiting to happen

  4. Lol,I think this is a case of serious wishful thinking about injuries by DG.I remember him saying something similiar last autumn about Carroll having been througj the worst of his injury problems & he would be fine 😉

  5. Positive thought has been scientifically been proved to see a positive outcome. It is a bit different from wishful thinking. Sceptics need to consider this point. Which supporter would not wish the best for the club. A fit squad is what we all want to see. A fit Carrol is good news.

Ps I did not want us to sign him;, but now I cannot wait to see him fully fit and playing with Sakho upfront.

  6. So positive thought by Gold is going to stop Carroll getting injured on a football pitch, lol.I wish it did work like that but as Ty says i see it as wishful thinking with fingers crossed as well 😉

  7. Dsvid gold is correct. A fit Andy Carroll is a force to be reckoned with

  8. Everyone knows a fit AC is a force,he is never bleedin’ fit though is he.We all know what he is but he is rarely on the pitch 😉

  9. Not wrong 66!!
Thing is I can’t see him fitting into this system of play.? ( when fit ) , only as an impact sub,
A plan b ! Carols game is bashing people up and his aerial ability , OK he does have floor skill but not better than anyone else up front, to use carol effectively you will have to get balls in from the flanks and play off him or route one ( hippo ) style.
That ain’t gonna happen, is it , and I can’t see him displacing sakho with his work rate !
I’ve no confidence in his fitness !!! So only time will tell,
I wish him well but just can’t see it coming together !!!
Fingers x for the lad, he must be well frustrated !!!!

  10. Could see Hippohead coming in for him in Jan or next summer if he gets the Mackems gig.Dont think i would shed too many tears anymore if he did leave.Bored of the whole saga after two years of it 😉

  11. We could of done with him coming on against 10 man Sunderland . I’m sure he would bagged a goal or caused havoc. Far better option than Jelevic who if he’s going to score ever for us it was against the poor Sunderland leftovers.
