Adebayor release – Hammers respond

|

AdebNews that Emmanuel Adebayor has been released from his Spurs contract has just broken on Twitter but West Ham won’t be returning for the player.

The Irons stopped speculation in its tracks this morning as  the possibility of a move to Upton Park started to exercise a few minds!

A  Boleyn source immediately told us: “We won’t be going back. We have 25 players and cannot register anymore

The big striker’s future has been in doubt for weeks and on the official Spurs account an announcement reads: “We can confirm that we’ve reached a mutual agreement with @E_Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the Club.”

Slaven Bilic has also revealed that he had an hour-long chat with the player.

He’ll probably go to Villa – but you never know!!

  • bubs says:

Then he should have gone to Villa weeks ago,I hope he finds a side in another country now,
We have had enough now,Villa have enough problems without him

Never would be an option till January anyway!!!
He has to be released in the last transfer window for any one to sign him in that country before the next window starts.
    Non story

If he is now out of contract it wouldn’t be a transfer as such. Imo he isn’t needed & would be a the wrong type of player for us.

Who gives a toss anyway !!!!

  • bubs says:

Why a non story I don’t understand that comment and why post or read it if it’s non story,
As a non contract player he can sign for anyone, even Wenger could be interested with Giroud miss firing,

  • kevin says:

If Adebayor has been relieved of his contract he is free to sign for whoever is willing to sign him , regardless of transfer windows . But one thing is for sure , West Ham won’t be interested now .. At least I hope not . He would only disrupt the balance that is slowly but surely emerging for West Ham on the field of play . If he could fit in anywhere it would be Sunderland .

  • Michael Miller says:

I was confused by this ,but if you’re contracted to one club when the Transfer Window closes you can’t play for another club until the Window opens again – at least I think that’s what it is.

But there’s also the stuff about the Club declaring their 25 man squad – which means there’s no place for him anyway even if the Transfer Window stuff is not true!

    As clear as mud!

  • bunny67 says:

It’s a non story because he cannot sign for anyone in England in this transfer window because he was not released before the window closes.
Makes no difference that he is now a free agent.
Different to someone like Nolan for example, he was released before window closed so he can sign for who he wants at any time.
So it makes no difference if we wanted him now or not – we can’t have him!
    Hence my comment

  • Tony gore says:

Well yes? But I don’t know why you earth he was considered in the first place??

  • Boys of 66 says:

He will end up in the states or uae earning a pile for doing the least he can, usual Adebayor really 😉
