Allardyce eyes Irons defender

cresswellCandHSam Allardyce is casting eyes in the direction of Aaron Cresswell and may make a cheeky bid for the left back although he’s unlikely to be successful until the summer window.

Cresswell was brought to West Ham by the club’s former boss who has a problem at the position.

Allardyce signed Liverpool born Cresswell who has gone on to make over 150 appearances for the Hammers since 2014.

The Daily Mail claims the 28-year-old could be tempted to return to his home town despite him being a lifelong Liverpool supporter.

The Hammers may be ready to listen to offers in the summer with many believing the player has not been able to catch the form of recent seasons although he has performed decently in the new 3/5 at the back system set up by David Moyes since his arrival.

  1. Poor old Sam!
Sounds like he has been eating one too many hamburgers..
    Hands off Cresswell, big boy!

  2. He is playing well despite his haters. It would be a big mistake if they don’t replace him with someone much better.

  3. If we sell him, we would be stupid. He’s one of the best left back’s in the league. Not that I think he would want to go anyway.

  4. Haters ? He’s just not a very good footballer !! Can’t defend , can’t tackle , always out of position. Can’t read a dangerous situation and close down , cant attack the ball in the air because of his height , never a centre half is he , bite the slugs hand off , southgate shifted him out after having a look after being asked to have a look by bilic , he’s championship at the least and league 1 at best , that’s not hating someone its a footballing comment ! Because it doesn’t meet others peoples opinions doesn’t make you a hater does it , noble is the same , as is fonte etc , I would like the best for west ham , what’s wrong with that lol , the problem with that is the finances to get them ! 😉

    • woops Can’t defend , can’t tackle , always out of position. Can’t read a dangerous situation and close down
for Creswell read Masuaku lol poor old Laz

      • Laz is spot on, the best way to describe Cresswell is great on the ball (superb passer of the football) but he is not a natural defender. He is a left back and to be honest he has only picked up his form because he has move from left back to back 3. If we went back to a back 4, I would be interested to see would he struggle like he did earlier in the season. Personally I would sell if we got a good bid because I think we could replace him with a better left back/ch. I personally prefer masuaka as the wing back in a back 5 but I agree not as a natural 3 in a back 4 as he is not a natural defender.

        • true Cresswell is not a perfect defender, but he has been playing well in the back 3, and was always better at defending than Masuaku. I hope his form in the back three will re-ignite his form as a left back.

      • The poorest left back this club has ever had ! Poor old fishes needs to go to specsavers lofl! The vision seems a way off !!

  5. Not sure what is going on with Cresswell my gut feeling is he is not that happy. when he used to do interviews he was always upbeat, perhaps he is still low on confidence and finding it a grind to get his form back, could be any number of reasons. He is still an assett to the club though I want to see him get his form back but if we did lose him at the end of summer and he was still playing under his best I would wish him well and hope we can find a better replacement.

  6. Can’t afford to sell him Masukau isn’t a LB I don’t see them buying Masina & we need to BUY not sell right now maybe in summer.
But he is a Liverpool fan would he even want to go to the Toffees…. Sure for the right price maybe.

But ffs we are linked w selling half our squad which is small as it is maybe we should buy first.

Noble has said the owners should pay £50m for a CM maybe they will just put up £50m to spend across the squad that would be great.

    • Its not the selling JRS its the injuries that will be the problem ! We simply have to spend money to counter it ! They said we sell before we buy didn’t they ? So fek knows where we go from here ! Were already short of body’s and you are right we need to add not sell this window , its a mess still , only a week left and counting 😉

  7. Cresswell is injured now so that should be the end of the rumours, more worryingly Lanzini, hopefully if the Joao Mario rumoursare true Moyes will be impressed on his scouting mission and we will go out and get him to fill a much needed gap.

  8. Arnie has a tight hammy as well 32 ! Last 20 he couldn’t sprint or chase down !
Unless sully and Moyes get their act together and quick we could be in trouble !!
Glad the pea got a trademark goal ! But until we can create chances like that for him he won’t do much , 3 injuries today means trouble ! Rice is better than cresswell so not worried there but Arnie and lanzini are the heart beat ! Without it were very ordinary and will struggle to score goals! 😉
