Andre Ayew urged to retire

Andrew-Ayew Andre Ayew was unable to help Ghana to victory in the third round of the World Cup CAF qualifiers against Congo on Friday.

The Black Stars escaped a shock defeat at the hands of the visitors, as Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey salvaged a point for the West Africans with an 85th minute equalizer. The result means Ghana stay third in CAF’s Group E having garnered just two points from three matches thus far.

Should they fail to win in the return leg on Tuesday, they won’t be representing Africa at Russia next year. Ayew put in a dismal performance against the group’s bottom-most and weakest side, getting withdrawn with 25 minutes to go.

Ayew is yet to add to his 14-goal tally for Ghana since the qualifiers started. The 27-year-old has just 6 goals in 28 league appearances for West Ham, a far cry from the 12 goals he returned in 34 league games for Swansa

Ayew’s performance was heavily criticized by Ghanaian twitter users, with some demanding that he retires from international duty as soon as possible.

  1. I thought he had retired.

  2. Who does he play for ??
Sounds like we could use a player like him !! £20mill should be enough 😂

  3. Why have they asked him to retire from international football only? Selfish gits.

  4. I agree he should retire – B&Q are still recruiting!

  5. Becoming a bit of a theme ain’t it? Noble should retire, Ayew should retire the Poppodom has already retired 😆😆

  6. Worrying that so many decent players go bad under Bilic and his coaching staff….

  7. This s a new one,now we even slag our own players when theyre on international duty do we..No one emailed me this latest rule 😁

    • All new West Ham Rads 😆 Slavs to blame for everything, players that can’t be arsed, fall in the pound etc etc etc 😆😆

      • Hamilton gets a puncture in the GP this afternoon,Bilics fault he should have texted him to tell him his tyres were blistered a lap earlier 😂

      • Yep branded 😂 the snapping over the knee of the sword next , followed by the stripping of the badge from the blazer lol ,

  8. Don’t be such a grump Radai! Look under a couple of the other articles for POSITIVE comments about players on international duty.

    • Lol yeah i clocked your one about Arnie earlier.I never saw the game though.so i have to take your word for it & im not sure that is wise 😁

  9. It is clear that Ayew does not deserve a place in our starting line-up.
Not even in the subs bench actually . He is only playing because whoever signed him is embarrassed at such a costly mistake.
