Another devasting injury blow for West Ham

OBIANG

Pedro Obiang will be out for a minimum of six weeks after being stretchered off suffering ligament tear to his knee. Obiang collided with Wigan’s Max Power in the 36th minute of the match at DW Stadium and had to be stretchered off the field of play after receiving medical attention.

The initial diagnosis for Obiang by the West Ham medical team is that it is a medial knee ligament injury (MCL), the same injury suffered by Man City frontman Gabriel Jesus which kept him out for six weeks.

The midfielder will have a full scan on Monday but David Moyes already fears the worst telling reporters   “Pedro looks as if he’s got a medial knee ligament, we will have him sent for a scan to tell us exactly what’s wrong. This is the thing, as you get criticism for not using your best players and we’ve picked every senior player available apart from James Collins and we’ve ended up picking up injuries. So, I think sometimes the criticism of the manager for doing it right [is unjust] as you’ve got to see the other side of it as well.”
