Antonio and Haksabonovic to get match action

AntonioMichail Antonio will make his return to match action against Everton in the opening under 23s competitive fixture of the new season.

And that could well set the Hammer of the Year up for his targeted return match against Southampton next weekend fully recovered from his hamstring injury.

Antonio’s return is a boost for the newly promoted youngsters who are this season taking on the big boys from Premier League 2 Division One.

Also involved will be the new £3 million midfield midfield signing Sead Haksabanovic who joined the club on a five year contract earlier this week.

It remains to be seen whether Terry Westley will need to decide on a new captain for Friday as it’s a big possibility Declan Rice will travel to Manchester for the big Sunday clash against United.

Toni Martinez and Nathan Holland too – after a highly impressive pre-season with the first team – is also will be waiting with bated beat to see whether they have done enough to be in the manager’s plans  for the big game.

Friday night’s game kicks off at Dagenham and Redbridge at 7pm and given the inclusion of Antonio and Haksabanovic it would be a good idea to get down to the match.

Tickets for non-Season Ticket Holders and non-members are priced at £5 adults and £3 concessions and turnstiles open at 6pm. Supporters are advised to arrive early to avoid queues at the turnstiles.

Academy director Terry Westley said: “It’s our first game, playing against a very good side in Everton who are the Premier League 2 champions from last season. They’ll be strong, and we’ll be strong too.

“The more people that come along to Dagenham, the better chance we have to up our game and perform to our best to get off to the best possible start, so we hope there will be a big crowd.
