Bilic kills off daft rumour

bilic2Slaven Bilic has killed stone dead the silly suggestion that the Hammers were set to go back with another bid for Alexandre Lacazette.

We have regularly rubbished the idea but the manager has now spoken out saying at his morning presser ahead of the Chelsea game: “”100 per cent we will not go for Lacazette. We will sign Calleri and he will be with us pretty soon depending on the work permit.”

And he added: “He is a top striker and we have a good balance in the squad. We have a big couple of weeks in front of us with five big games.

I said we would add five players to the squad. We were expecting a few to come back from injury and it was planned to sign a left back.”

And he is delighted with the fitness of Dimi Payet saying: “We are still waiting to see on a couple of positions who are going to start. is one of the players. He came back very fit.”

  1. There was no way we were every going to get Lacazette. Its all well & good bidding for someone, especially if you know he wont come.I bet Sullivan would have pooed his pants if Lyon or Lacazette accepted the offer earlier in the summer lol

  2. Yes you have to wonder how serious they are with their bids sometimes.Im surprised they didn’t put in a £20 million bid for Bale. They could have then told us we tried signing him 🙂

  3. I think it was a genuine attempt. If he had said yes, we would all have been singing their praises. I think the mistake was to go public and to not have a few more realistic options that we could have pursued at the same time. That being said I do wonder why Slav has gone from wanting 5 to suddenly being happy with the squad, particularly when he must know better than anyone that a rb is needed.

Maybe they have learned from the lacazette deal and are now just keeping their cards close to their chest and are still active. We can but hope!

  4. It probably was a genuine attempt DJ,im just a grumpy sceptic when it comes to football chairmen & big talk during transfer windows lol

    • Well with the way everything is geared to making money and selling tickets now I completely understand. The Hapless gooners have been getting stung by the ‘we’ve got plenty of money to spend on world class players’ line for a good few years now
