Slaven Bilic is looking forward to putting out a very different West Ham team after the international break but praised today’s squad on their gutsy second half display at the Etihad.
The West Ham boss decared: “We showed character, spirit and quality up front but the formation didn’t work in the first half.
“We didn’t get tight to them and cut out the danger areas they worked in but we changed it at the interval and were much better.
“We got the goal and that gave us hope although despite getting in behind them we didn’t manage to make THAT number of chances.
They are a very good team and it is always going to be difficult against them particularly with six, seven or eight of your players out.
But when we get Lanzini, Payet, Zaza and one or two others out there after the international break of course you will see a very different West Ham team.”

I thought I saw a lot of the Irons of last season in the second half.Which was great considering the team we were up against & the team we could put out with options restricted .Citeh are going to be a class act this season for sure.Things should improve greatly after the international break.But please Slav sell Biggins 🙂

We have a fat actor over here called Christopher Biggins Matte.I said last week I would rather have him play as a striker than Valencia.It seems to have stuck as his name now lol 🙂

West Ham still have seven players out – and Lanzini was very rusty today in his 30 minutes. Remember that last season after 3 games the record was identical to today
– one win (Arsenal) and two defeats (Leicester and Bournemouth) …..and we were out of Europe. Like now, too many people were predicting doom and gloom.
Please Slav!! Please do not play 3 at the back unless we’ve got 2 new centre halves ?

After 20 I felt physically sick at our efforts , we were crap ,
Second half was like rads said , effort like we fans like to see ? Funk the result as long as we have a go , we actually rocked them ? I like many must be pleased with the second half and when the boys are all fit again we will be back to our best again ?
The marriner bloke needs a shafting for not carding aguero , he saw it and turned away ?
Fukin Disgracefull ? Cheat ? Big team bias scenario will never go away until video is introduced?
I cannot wait until after the break ? I feel good after that second half ?

Lets start with the positives. I liked Bilic’s thinking going with 3 at the back but I would say with this system he had to play 2 up top instead he dropped Valencia back. A big mistake as when he pushed Valencia up top at the start of the second half we rattled them as we had two strikers with pace. Then we got back to 2-1 and what does Bilic do, take off one of our strikers and brings on an unfit Lanzini. We went to 1 back up top – crazy decision and I believe the decision that cost us getting anything from the game. I like this season but you cannot play Collins in this system. I would have played Oxford with Reid and Ogbanna. I thought both Collins and Ogbanna were very poor today. I would have started with Byran and Masauka who played really well, I like this player. Byran is improving but still not sure have my doubts. Both Noble and Kouyate covered some ground – did well. Antonio was excellent – incredible energy the complete opposite to Tore along with Nordsvelt look terrible signings. Enner at least worked hard as did Fletcher. We need a top RB and not another Arsenal reject please. I thought Jaamaat would have been a great signing for us. It is now time to give Oxford his chance ahead of Collins. Not a fan of Zaza at all but he was Bilic’s choice I just hope he is better than a few of the other signings this summer like Tore and Nordsvelt. I still have hope for Tore but I have already lost complete faith in Nordsvelt.

They don’t know him where I live and I have had such a great laugh showing him to them,
They can’t believe we have a player like him,
We did not get it right in the first half,
You mean I did not get it right when I sent us out with 9 men
Tore and Biggins,
We put our 3 slowest players at the back to mark them and they cheated and ran fast,
