Board split on Bielsa

FBL-FRA-LIGUE1-BASTIA-OM

West Ham may have just 72 hours to make a decision on whether Marcelo Bielsa will become their next boss.
David Sullivan is a supporter of the Marseilles manager who led the club into fourth place in the French Ligue 1 this season and is widely admired around the world.
The French outfit are keen to keep him and are expected to offer him a new deal over the next three days although, ideally, Bielsa wants to manage in the Premier League at West Ham.
However, the co chairman needs to persuade David Gold and Karren Brady the 59 year old Argentinian is the right man for the job.
It is well known that his lack of English is a problem but he has given assurances he will learn the language in four months.
However, he is also  seen as a maverick by many who has a tendency to insist things are done his way and that may be a factor.
We were told: “David Sullivan likes him because the man has not failed wherever he’s been and at a personal level he also gets along with extroverts.”
However, the board will want to be unanimous in their decision and much may now depend on how long Bielsa is ready to wait for them.

  1. We’ve always been told once DS sets his mind on something he gets it. I’m sure DG can be persuaded and as for Lady Brady she defended the genius the whole time so her thoughts are irrelevant

  2. Go and get him he wants to be our manager he has what we need as a manager,
The language is not a problem and he has given assurances he will learn the language
he is probably a better bet than bilic and the difference between him and BFS is like BFS is Kevin Nolan and Biesla is Messi
D S get on with it win D G over and start the talking by Monday get his name on a contract

  3. There are about 6 guys leading the way and any of them would do a great job.. just get one of the big boys signed up and dont dilly dally or we will miss them all

Rafa wants Madrid (who can blame him)
Klopp is looking higher (who can blame him)
Ancelotti wants a big boy (who can blame him)

If none of them want to sign in the next 48 hrs we need to grab Bielsa or Emery asap before they are not an option.

Bilic would be next for me after these guys.

  4. ” David Sullivan likes him because the man has not failed wherever he’s been ”
But he hasn’t been anywhere long enough to fail.
    2 months at Espanyol,
    2 years at Bilbao
    1 year at Marseilles
Thats his total experience of top club management in his 60 years.
Surely we should be looking for a decent record for someone so old.

I hope he stays at Marseille

  5. This manager hunt is very tricky, all those managers in the frame, each with distinctive advantages, but also arguments to be had against hiring them.
The fact that Klopp has rarely been mentioned in connection with our club makes me feel resigned that he may just wait his turn till a much bigger club has a vacancy.
Things happen and change quickly in football.
Before we know it circumstances may arise where suddenly Barcelona, PSG, Man U or Arsenal have an opening, and it pains me to say, maybe Klopp is waiting for just that.
Regardless of all this talk of a project he may indeed feel he is ready for the next step.
And that unfortunately may not be another Dortmund like project, only in another country, but one of the seriously big clubs.
Maybe Klopp just fancies the experience of what managing such a club will be like.
I no longer hold out much hope we can get him.
Still happy if we get Emery, Bielsa or even Bilic. Just don’t mess this up West Ham!

  6. YES, El Loco one of my favourites
