Bookies odds for next Hammers boss

The bookies have begun the guessing game on who will become the next Hammers boss and Rafa Benitez leads the way.

Paddy Power have him at 5/2 favourite with Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic close behind at 11/4 which is a surprise given that he will almost certainly want to lead the Londoners into the Premier League if they make it.

It looks a very vague list following those two with a variety of uninspiring candidates named at lengthy prices.  Brendan Rodgers comes in at 9/1, former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel at 10/1 with – wait for it Tony Pulis – on the same price.

After that we get into some real long shots with Roy Hodgson and Gary Monk at 16/1, Chris Coleman 20/1, Eddie Howe 20/1, Sean Dyche 20/1, Chris Hugton 20/1 and  Marcelo Bielsa and Alan Pardew 20/1.

Old Harry Boy is in there at 50/1 and Ryan Giggs gets a 66/1 quote.

  1. The only one of those that would be worth a shot is Tuchel.

  2. Tuchel, you’re having a laugh! Why in hell would he come to West Ham? Why would Rafa for that matter? Why would Jokanovic? I’m not a fan of Moyes at all, far too negative tactically and personally but we really need to consider who could realistically takes the reigns otherwise we will be scrappy around trying to tempt managers way above our station and end up with a Pulis panic appointment.

  3. moyes has only been in charge for half a season, taking over a struggling team in the bottom three, and now there is a campaign to get rid of him? amazing. you couldnt make it up. i wonder what managers of old like greenwood and lyall would have made of the modern fickle, scapegoat hunting, disloyal generation.

  4. Mancini? Usually gets thrown out there, surprised Wenger isn’t now favourite.
The more optimistic out there will probably be sprouting Ancelotti as a possible.

All pointless as they won’t get rid of Moyes no matter what, he is just what Sullivan wants, looks tough but won’t give them a hard time, treats the transfer kitty like his own cash and won’t make waves when he doesn’t get enough.

The Moyes of Everton is not what football fans want now, going back then that was the perfect approach for an upper mid table side to move on year on year and build a squad around hard work and graft. It is working for Burnley but (and I mean no disrespect at all) the Burnley fans are not as demanding or expecting of good football and instant results as many of our fans are. This is what we have always done and I think we need some fresh ideas and a manager that can convey a way of playing as we have got the nucleus of a very good team, sadly we don’t have a very good squad. We need some of the promising youngsters to be given game time and we need to bring in at least 4 first team players, not squad members but players that will move the team forward.

    Keeper (Tom Heaton)
    RB (Fredericks)
    CB ( Johnny Evans, )
Midfielders (Witshire, Carvalho, Traore, Cairney, Maddison)

  5. Clive, Lyle and Greenwood would no doubt be calling for his head because of his dour, unadventurous, boring, sterile style of football. Also his lack of tactical nous, poor substitutions and insistence on defensive set ups even when we still ship 3/4 goals per game. Only playing one up front against Stoke at home but ranging 5 across the back even though Stoke were playing with only 1 forward and had only scored 15 goals in their previous 20 league games.
