Bookies suspend betting on Pellegrini

Bookmakers are no longer taking bets on the next permanent West Ham manager.  Manuel Pellegrini was the odds-on favourite at 1/5 yesterday but Bookies have closed their markets today considering it almost a done deal.

Hebei China Fortune announced today that Pellegrini will cease to be their manager from midnight tonight. His team won 2-1 in his final game in charge and he has said his goodbyes to his players.

Pellegrini will be flying to London and is expected to arrive in the UK on Monday at which point he will meet with David Sullivan.

However much of the negotiations, agreements and the financial package is thought to have been concluded via long distance phone calls and emails in advance and following the meeting, Pellegrini is expected to sign a contract to become the next West Ham manager.

The new West Ham manager is expected to be announced before or on Wednesday.

  1. Let the good times roll. Now for the back room boys and getting in the quality to add to our five or six already here. Coyi

  2. You can sign contracts by digital signature nowadays sent via email. Sullivan seems to like doing business via email. I’d be surprised if it’s not already all wrapped up.

  3. If it really happens, it is a true statement of intent. El Ingeniero is going to bring know how and also he is going to configure a decent team. YES!

  4. He is also a civil engineer so maybe he can sort out the London stadium seating

    • LMAO !!! hahaha on the manager front I will believe it when I see him n the press conference, never underestimate our Chairman’s ability to shoot himself in the foot usually just after the same foot has entered his mouth !!!

      • WAS LMAO about the engineering of course, kind of looked off when I read it, classic, would be great if he could sort our the seating wouldn’t it !!!

  5. Not my first choice but it represents a step up on the managerial front. Remember all the statistical analysis shows that very few managers make a significant difference to a team’s performance & do better than the size of their wage bill suggests. The key thing is obviously getting good players & creating a team from them. So I just hope that from the board’s point of view this is the start & not just a desperate attempt to shut up the ‘malcontents’ & ‘keyboard warriors’. He did very well at Villarreal & at Malaga (until financial problems kicked in). Elsewhere not so outstanding. But it is possible he is the man to lead us forward. Hope springs eternal- even at West Ham lol.
