Breaking news: ‘fit again’ Carroll to rejoin squad

|

carroll earWest Ham boss Slaven Bilic has been handed a massive pre-season boost with the welcome news that Andy Carroll is ready to rejoin training.

The big man has been out since February, but after posting videos of himself on Twitter running unrestrained and free, he is set to rejoin the first team squad.

The former Newcastle and Liverpool striker was forced to go under the knife and it had been feared he could be out of action for a further two months.

The video shows the 26-year-old tackling shuttle runs, sprints and general ball control as he closes in on a return to action.

They also give fans a glimpse of what they have been missing as he juggles the ball before turning and volleying it impressively into the goal behind him.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic will be hoping to have Carroll back sooner rather than later after learning that striker, Enner Valencia, will be ruled out for 12 weeks – and may yet require surgery.

The club had revealed a couple of weeks back that the centre forward may be held back until October. But the race now appears to be on to get him fit asap.

Don’t learn do we.rush him back early yet again so he becomes injured . We weren’t expecting him until October so leave him until the league cup and see how he gets on.

Hang on, rejoining the squad does not mean he will be ready or rushed back into playing. It simply means training with them rather than on his own for the most part. When he will be match fit or ready is another matter but if he is training without pain then at some point you have to decide to bring him back into team training even if you continue to take care. Only by so doing do you know how he is recovering and get him match fit, by waiting an extra couple weeks or more before doing so does not inevitably make getting a reaction to it less likely, it has to be tested at some stage.

If so some good news for a change. The news on Valencia does seem better than expected too though with injuries like this re assessments can change things over the weeks and indeed could result in a longer time out if an operation in the end be deemed necessary.

I predict he will pick up a slight niggle within three games that will keep him out for a few, before returning for another 4 games before having a season ending injury. Call me a cynic but you know it to be true. I really really hope I am wrong. Unless you can stop him flying about all over the pitch like a bull in a china shop, then this will happen every season. Problem is, that is Andy Carroll and you wouldn’t want him to play any other way. Unfortunately his body just doesn’t suit that style of play. Fingers crossed.

I’m like you Spider. Not optimistic at all.The headline should have read “Fit again Carroll but for how long??”

  • Chicken Runner says:

Bloody hell Rugby, how can you assume from reading one article how the club are going to approach this. You always storm in to comments like a bull in a china shop. Why dont you think sometimes before writing sh*t.

  • essexclarets says:

That tatic was the fat one’s, using him in such a way obviously didn’t suit him as he only lasted a few weeks each season. Now we have a whole new back room team he should be used to play with his strength. How are the club going to know how well his rehabilitating back from injury is progressing if he isn’t pushed a little??

  • bubs says:

I want to see him fit and if that means we have to wait I am all for it,
When he is fit he is a good player and now we have the players to provide the ball he could be brilliant,
But let’s not rush him back to save money we still need cover
It’s still going to be weeks before he is match fit,

I’d like to imbed my picture of the Andy Carroll Ward but I can’t work out how to post it here – use your imagination!:

  • slaven a laugh says:

When he came back from injury before he did well but I remember the game when he went flying into the camera pit at the side of the pitch he looked like he jarred his knee and then nearly decapitated himself. He injured himself but hadn’t been back long and was embarrassed I think. So he played on and pretended like nothing had happened. He got injured not long after that. Age should have been rested after that game. A player coming back from injury is always prone to further injuries until they are fully match fit. They need to be eased back in. Allardyce just put him in and played him every game until he got injured again. Allardyce fault he got injured again. A player like carol needs to be managed a bit more carefully eased back in by being rested ocassionally.

Am i the only one having trouble getting on this site 2day?

  • essexclarets says:

Every time i get the Football Pools advert the page wont load fully.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Probably propoganda to lower the perceived desperation levels when bidding for strikers and thus lowering the price hikes.

  • hammer4life says:

Great news but I really hope they stick to the original plan and give it time to get him right. I’d sooner see Maiga play than rush him back so he gets hurt again. I have faith the new regime will do the right thing.
