Bullet swerved on Mr Remy!

Loic Remy’s name was being thrown around regularly as a Hammers target a while back – yesterday he showed  that was a bullet swerved.

One eminent London website – in handing out their ratings – gave the striker a mere three points  declaring that two of those were for lacing up each boot.

Remy had often been mentioned in the past as  £10 million player. It may be unfair to judge on one game but I will. Not for us thanks.

When one considers that is the price we paid for Dimi Payet a certain perspective is thrown on this matter as it is when considering another former Queens Park Rangers front man.

Charlie Austin – like Remy before him -was widely touted for the Irons at £15 million and eventually left for £4 million. He has since made five appearances for one goal.

Despite much criticism – particularly on the Austin affair – the club stood its ground and brought in exactly the right guys.

And to finish on an up note, after my previous criticisms of him, I thought Emmanuele Emenike looked a real player yesterday!

  1. I agree with you about Emenike. We’ve been impressed with new players who have arrived in the PL and been able to slot in straight away but have forgotten that it isn’t that easy and can’t be expected from everyone. Emenike has only been with us for a few weeks, and based on yesterday is starting to adjust and settle in.

  2. Don’t think he’s worth the £8m being banded around for him. Would take him for about £4m though.
