Carroll Irons to Chelsea fiction was as bad as it gets

Andy-Carroll-West-Ham_3126805David Moyes commented a few weeks ago that he believed it would be far better were the winter transfer market confined to a week or even a day as is the case in Italy!

And after the events of the last couple of weeks I am totally in agreement with him after watching the media  promote the worst fiction I can remember during my time in the game. It’s been shameful.

I refer of course to the thoroughly disgraceful “Andy Carroll for Chelsea” story that has dominated the headlines for days on end.

It wasn’t true when it first emerged in The Sun and we had no hesitation in attempting to destroy it there and then but no, unbelievably the remainder of the ‘press pack’ came along – including such as The Guardian for God’s sake -determined to jump on what they saw as a great story.

It was never a great story – it was a non story of epic proportions – yet despite the fact that the striker was known to be injured, the media at large threw that out suggesting he was faking it by claiming scans had shown nothing. He wasn’t!

The story was promoted by agents looking to earn a few quid. They speak to us all. Difference is some  choose to check other sources before denying or confirming.

Some media even managed to claim Carroll wanted Chelsea as a back up to Morata because he wasn’t getting game time at the LS. So how does going to Stamford Bridge change his position? It doesn’t. He’s still second string.

CandH consistently denied this shocker of a story – others chose to stand by it, reinforce it and then use the injury – which was genuine from Day One – as a reason their story hasn’t worked out.

West Ham attracts a bigger focus than any other club in the transfer window and there is no denying that rumour upon rumour – at the last count around 35 names had been associate with us – is unsettling and destabilising.

But this winter the Carroll garbage and all the rest has demonstrated that truth simply does a flier when January comes around.

And a month of it is sickening – get it down to seven days as soon as possible please.

  1. Are you prepared to deny the rumour
that I’m starting that we are signing Greisman and Naymar? I have it on good authority that we are also getting Willian on loan.

  2. 😂 ! He’s been missing since his comments about not wanting to be a impact waste of space
To all of a sudden he’s injured when nothing was said as such in his absence, to he may require surgery!! It appears crouch is now being mentioned along with dekho !
Not as bad as you’re making it out IMO ! There’s more to it than meets the eye lol if it needs an operation then he’s probably out for 2 months at the least with his slow healing !
How convenient for a face saving situation ! Let’s hope the lad smolov comes on board or play sakho until the end of the season , and let him go on a free ! Carroll IMO is a bitter disappointment and the quicker he’s moved on the better !👎

  3. I think there was an article on here from the Mirror also reporting the same story as fact ? Most of us know it is/was a load of rubbish but it has given us a chance to air our views numerous times so not all bad I guess…
