Carroll’s new injury – you couldn’t make it up!

You really couldn’t make it up!

Andy Carroll may have suffered his most bizarre injury to date with the latest forecast being that he will be back for the match against Newcastle on Saturday.

However, given the nature and cause of the latest setback it’s difficult to see how anybody can make any sort of forecast as far as the striker is concerned.

ClaretandHugh has learned that the player incurred the latest injury whilst leaping from his seat as Chicharito hit the bar in what looked likely to be the winner against Arsenal.

We were told that he didn’t realise it at the time but that Carroll had tweaked his back  and when he started training the next day found he was okay whilst running in straight lines but that that pain emerged once he started moving from side to side.

An insider explained that it was a minor back problem adding that he should be available for Newcastle. However, it all means that the one time record signing has been missing since the match against Leicester City on November 24.

He has now played in just eight Premier League games incurring  red card along the way.

  1. Jesus Christ… this lad needs to go.
I know Sakho wants out… but I’d rather keep Sakho, hopefully Moyes can persuade him to stay and bloody get rid of Carroll.
Just a quick name to throw out though, I see we are linked with Ings and Sturridge… what about Callum Wilson from Bournemouth? He’s decent…

    • Agree I would rather keep Sakho.
Funny this happens when not playing & supposedly willing to listen to offers. I hope its not just that but no one will Take AC if injured again had longest run of Fitness in a while & I would sell him even on cheap to get him off wages bc I don’t think we will ever see old AC again & just changes our style so much. Pace works much better or more rounded big CF.
I wouldn’t want Sturrigde not at all, Ings on loan yes not first choice.
But I’ve always like Wilson had those 2 ACLs but has come back looking good & his pace & movement are great.I have always liked him & if can stay fit will be class striker.
Don’t know if still keen on Fodor Smolov but he is very rounded w Height & pace & could be a good fit. Babacar is still one to look at 24 Arnie’s height but fast & rounded too only 24.

We will need a CF if they both leave but I really hope we get a creator. Lanzini is better w creative player & if something happens to him.
I really like Mohamad Elynoussoui for Basel 23yo 11 assists 5 goals maybe more now. Norway Intl scores & assists in CL has pace Southampton are keen on him be about £10m I think he would be a great but for present & future.
If Moyes wants English Norwich’s 21yo James Madison 7 goals 8 assists & 2 free kick goals in 2 weeks.
Creativity is something I think we have needed for a while & will makenour whole team better if not them good players out there just have to fins them & go for it. I think Gross at Brighton was lrob best buy for the money over summer £3m top creator in Bundesliga but was relegated involved in over 10 goals 4 goals 6 assists over that now I believe

    • It’s not a case of Moeys persuade Sakho to say, he dont want to play him because everytime he playes he gets 50k bonus, which to me is crazy. surely picking up points and playing in the prem next season must outweigh a 50k bonus per game ??

  2. Sounds like he has trapped a disc if true, certainly fits with the movement as for when he will be back could be any amount of time, an MRI scan will provide the answer because you will be able to see the disc’s on the scan.

  3. Enough is enough.Get the malingerer off the books please.Agree with all the above posts.Waiting on Laz to add his pint’s worth.lol

  4. If the Moyes leadership propaganda about fitness and putting in a shift is to be believed then Carroll’s latest sick note story could be a non-issue, no matter how bizarre. And it is bizarre. After all, Carroll has shown that he is physically unable to deliver sustained graft a la Moyes’ expectations and remain injury free. Carroll must be near unique among his peers in getting injured while on the bench. Under Moyes he will surely be out of the frame, other than as a five minute sub perhaps, and I agree with fellow bloggers: sell and lower the wage bill. However to do this the major challenge for the club is getting and keeping Carroll fit for long enough to ‘con’ a buyer. Intriguing as the potential January transfer shopping-list may be, the Boxing Day ‘clearance sales’ are also crucial.

  5. +1 to all above 😎
