Cresswell linked with Arsenal

CressieAccording to a report in the Sun on Sunday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is lining up a summer move for Hammers left-back Aaron Cresswell.

The 25-year-old joined West Ham from Championship team Ipswich Town for £3.75m last summer. Cresswell’s debut campaign in the Premier League has been a massive success so far with many tipping him as an early contender for Hammer of the year.

“Arsenal are ready to make a summer swoop for Aaron Cresswell. The Gunners boss is eyeing up competition for Kieran Gibbs as Nacho Monreal could be heading back to Spain after two years at the Emirates Stadium,” The Sun reported

In recent weeks Cresswell has also been linked to a bid from Manchester City, however Allardyce ruled out a new deal on the basis of a few rumours.

“I wouldn’t think he’d need a new contract just yet because I think he signed a four-year deal. Just because people put in the paper that Manchester City are interested in him is no need for giving him a new contract – just on rumour. I wouldn’t think it’s in the chairman’s mind at the moment to look at that contract.” said Allardyce.

  1. As we have another left back signed for next season someone will come up with the idea of swaping Cresswell for Jenkinson plus a bit of cash,
Let’s hope they don’t because we need to build a team with Cresswell in it,
Just put the not for sale sign up and give him a improved contract fo a extra 3 years.
    BFS OUT

  2. It disappoints me that stuff like this is even a conversation. One of the biggest problems in the game in my opinion are contracts that are never lived up to by players. Sign for x number of years and give your all for x number of years otherwise why even bother?

I’m sure this is just speculation, but as I say, it shouldn’t even be coming up.

  3. The owners should have put up the “NOT FOR SALE” on our promising players. From memory (I am getting old) the owners said no players would be sold in January. Why is it never reported about inquiries for Nolan,O’Brien,Cole and even Carroll??That was rhetorical.Anyway a new season and out with the old and that includes the manager and in with the new.Lets change the culture at WHU and become a club where players want to come and play at the highest level.

  4. I don’t think Aaron Cresswell is for sale by the board, the problem is once a player has his head turned with bigger money and champions league football it is hard to keep hold of them. At the moment it is just paper talk though. Maybe Arsenal have scouted him but I am sure they scout hundreds of players.
