David Sullivan breaks silence on transfer activity

David Sullivan has broken silence on recent transfer activity.

Speaking to WHUFC.com Sullivan said “We are delighted to have secured two very exciting signings in the space of three days. As a Board, we assured our supporters that we would be looking to bring in high-calibre players, and Jack and Andriy fit that bill perfectly.

“Both of them have played at the highest level and we look forward to seeing that quality on show on a regular basis in the Claret & Blue.

“Jack also knows the Premier League very well, and I know all our supporters will join me in welcoming them both to the London Stadium. They become our fourth and fifth new signings of an already busy summer, after the additions of Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop and Lukasz Fabianski.

“We also hope to have more exciting news regarding incomings in the near future as we aim to provide Manuel with the strongest squad possible.”

“In a week where we signed another superb English talent in Jack, can I also take this opportunity on behalf of West Ham United to wish England every success against Croatia.”

  1. Sullivan didn’t need to say anything did he. Undermines Husillos and pellegrini when he comes out and crows about the latest signings. It comes across as usual as if he’s trying to take all the credit for himself. Why doesn’t he wait until all the catches have been landed, Anderson included and then perhaps, possibly, we might not mind him gloating just a tiny bit.

  2. Years of watching DS at work have probably made me too suspicious, but why would he come out with a statement at this point?I know he says he hopes for more exciting transfer news, but does this, plus the picture of the handshake, look a bit like this may be the end of transfers (in) for this window. The club has done well so far ( although nobody knows for sure how well until we have seen some of the players in action next season) & we don’t want to be too greedy, but I would like to see just one or two gaps plugged. I am cautiously optimistic, but we have seen several false dawns over the last 7/8 years. Hoping it is the real thing this time.

  3. Give him a break. i’m no fan of his but he is understandably pleased with the business we have done. Why can’t he express this. Every fan i know has commented how pleased they are but our owners aren’t allowed to.
