DG: “This is a proper bloke and England cert”

michail-antonio-west-ham-stoke_3387473David Gold believes Michail Antonio  is a total Sam Allardyce player and a certainty for England.

The co chairman has remained close to the former Nottingham Forest winger throughout his various troubles and admits he “gave him a peck  on the cheek ” after his man of the match performance against Bournemouth.

Speaking to ClaretandHugh DG declared: “His progress has been extraordinary at the club and despite all his various problems has shown himself to be a professional of real character.

“I think he is a certainty for England and without question a real Sam Allardyce player. His energy levels are extraordinary – we intend for him to be at West Ham United for a long time.

“The manager spoke after the Bournemouth game about his versatility and that he might even be able to perform through the middle.

“That would be an interesting one  but in the meantime we should all be thrilled with the lad. He’s quite outstanding.

“I’m not a kisser or a hugger but I have to admit I gave him a little peck after the Bournemouth match. He’s a proper bloke and knows how to react to adversity.”

  1. Phew!….”we intend for him to be at West Ham United for a long time…” Hearing Antonio has such a powerful ally, is a probably a joy to the ears of most WHU supporters. I’m much more interested in Antonio’s fortunes than in off-form strikers being brought in!

  2. Thats because your obsessed with him Fish n ChipsThe rest of us realise there is another 20+ squad makes up the team 😉

  3. He has a bit of man love going on,that or he is stalking Antonio.I have never known one fan carry on about ONE single player so friggin much. Its almost disturbing.

  4. Do your thing Fish,
I would love to see him given a chance in an England shirt but I think he is to attacking for our respect the draw man and he has trouble with his defensive role,
I would not worry if he was tried as a central forward for us
His work rate would cause problems for any defence he knows where the net is and he is good in the air,
That beats most of our CF credentials

    • Nice 1, Bubs. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, and Antonio at RW always comes up with the goods. Which is why I hate seeing it wasted. I do see Antonio as the key to success. Others are clearly not so fussed.
But, he still has plenty to learn, as you point out.

      • What about a fruit salad ?
        Or a chappati ! Lol.
That saying has never made much sense to me ?
Or like a boiled egg that’s put in a egg cup before you batter its head in , ??
        Fekin serious ?
What are you proving when you eat it ??
Even fish and chips with a slice of lemon ?

  5. Don’t play Valencia against Man City. Play Antonio down the middle. No brainer.
