Diop snag has Pellegrini looking towards Old Trafford

Manuel Pellegrini is ready to turn his attention to Manchester United’s central defender Chris Smalling after the negotiations for Toulose giant central defender Issa Diop hit snags.

Pellegrini is a big fan of the Manchester United player who, with a year left on his current contract, is reported ready to leave Old Trafford.

Despite agreeing on a fee of around €25 million for the Toulouse defender there are problems in settling personal terms and other payments and although the deal isn’t entirely dead, Smalling is now becoming a target.

The Manchester United defender interests a number of Premier League outfits along with striker Anthony Martial.

Pellegrini and the club are a long way down the road to signing Alfie Mawson but ClaretandHugh has learned Smalling is another central defender very much on his wish list at around €25 million.

As reported earlier today (Sun) the manager, director of football Mario Housillos and the board will be drawing up a high priority list of targets at a meeting on Monday June 25.

  1. Again as I said all to late meeting on the 25/6. Roma are in for Pastore. Jonjo the Spuds are in for him to. Now this guy. Where does this leave us as I said following up the rear. I really see us again struggling with bargain basement players and loan signings that nobody else wants except those on a tight budget. I do hope I am wrong but I really do fear another long humiliating season.

    • Is anyone realy surprised with this , Anderson deal and Diop deal both hitting snags, G AND S – well least we tried lol
      Embarrassing

  2. Diop ok good signing stalling also but mawson nah.

  3. Nothing has changed apart from the season tickets being sold so who cares about the transfer s. …we have fallen for it AGAINπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚…useless clowns

  4. I don’t work in the world of Football agents, but I don’t believe it’s as simple as it might appear….
A player like Smalling (and I’m not a fan) will want Β£100k+ week and just seems like too much money….?
Mawson to me looks a better prospect and would cost half the price..?
