DS moves to save former Hammer from eviction

AmosDavid Sullivan has this morning sent £800 to former academy product Amos Nasha’s Just Giving page after the youngster faced eviction from his home.

ClaretandHugh broke the sad story earlier today and the co-chairman told us immediately afterwards: “I have made the donation personally. Mad as it is the club can’t give away any money without board meetings/board approval.

“I was very impressed with the story and how much had been raised, so I wanted to chip in to help this young man through a difficult time.

“I personally fund the homeless at Xmas support the club’s foundation organises, but I refund the foundation and pay for it personally.

“Homelessness is like chipping away at an iceberg. I think people with no family to fall back on often end up homeless and then there is no way out for them. The council can do nothing for single people. Long term I’d like to do a lot more.

Amos was orphaned just before Christmas. He lost his mother and his father suffered a heart attack which resulted in him having to sell his shoe shop in East London in the summer.

He was then released by West Ham and like many young lads got on the depressing treadmill of trying to find a new club which he has so far failed to do.

  1. Respect Mr Sullivan, respect.

  2. What are the oodds of him now getting it in the neck because some patheitic individual will say he is merely publicity seeking.Isnt that how it works on the internet these days?

  3. Well done DS, I don’t know what his level was as a player but would it be possible to invite him back for a trial again, the money will help and I contributed myself but if he had a steady form of income or even a job at the club in some other position he would be able to help support himself and his brother.

  4. I dont know the welfare of his dad but maybe he will have to go out in the big wide world like we all do & try to find a job.Thats not trying to be harsh only realistic.
If he can find a lower level club, even semi pro he will gain some form of much needed income.A lad i know plays semi pro in the national league south & he actually pickups a decent wage.

  5. Does anyone know what the club do for the kids they release? Is there some sort of follow up program to get them trials with lower league local clubs? What’s the follow up rate I wonder? Particularly when kids may have issues at home which prevent them from being able to travel, etc.

  6. Well done,DS

  7. Well done Ds hopefully some more senior staff/players can help out not as if there short of cash.
Could we not get him a job within the club wether it be helping out in the offices helping younger kids in schools or even helping out around match days I’m sure he would be grateful for the income and saving a kid and his you get brother from poverty and also helping our own as he was on our books and looms like we was the last team to have him
