Exclusive: Hogan deal hits massive obstacle

scott-hoganWest Ham have rejected speculation that they are about to land Brentford’s Scott Hogan in a deal which would have amounted to between £10m and £15m.

The media has been suggesting for days that Hogan is all but a Hammers player but ClaretandHugh has been told this morning that a deal is nowhere near.

The club believe the price is over inflated and that the player’s injury record will stop the deal happening – certainly at that price.

Having seen Andy Carroll on the sidelines with injury for so long, the club seems unprepared to take any sort of risk with Hogan who had  serious knee surgery in 2015 which was followed by  setback in training.

At the time it was reported by the BBC: “Brentford striker Scott Hogan has suffered a setback in his recovery from a long-term knee injury and will require further surgery.

The 23-year-old suffered cruciate damage in August  and returned to light training earlier this year.

Hogan injured the same knee in training on Tuesday, and the Bees say the damage is “of a significant nature”.

And this morning – despite heavy speculation that the player is on his way to the London Stadium – a ClaretandHugh source revealed: “They are asking too much money for him given the serious knee surgery he has had to have.”

  1. Just another excuse to try save money we could get Defoe or any other player being at west ham they will get injured his a player high in confidence looks willing to come to us years ahead of him just pay the money all his getting players as cheap as possible or not getting players because of the price then wb or another team pay and they become a huge success this is all a bit of a joke just get he players needed don’t tell no one get in and get out again with The playerplayer andall thisthis using fletcher in a deal if this happens it will show the world we are clueless and will all show youth not to come to us

  2. The club knew his injury history. They also knew the club wanted this type of money. Why even bid generate interest if we had no intention of paying the fee. Yet again the board say the right things, speak out in the press about signing a 20 goal striker but don’t actually seem to have any intention on doing it. Why not attempt to sign Suarez for a packet of wotsits

  3. I said the other day i liked him as a player but he had historic knee problems & someone gave me earhole for it 😁😁
Still i have only read in the papers or from ‘sources’ that we bid for him, same as the ‘sources’ & media who said we were going to give fletcher to hull.It is a joke time of the year the january transfer window & its crazy to take the press reports to heart or take them too seriously 😁

    • But there’s some good news on the horizon!!! The buntings been unwrapped, the flags are out, the return of the spiritual messiah is just around the corner for the sammerettes 🙂

      • Yeah the Hippo Head Y-Fronts will be getting washed & ironed ready for his homecoming & we will hear for the thousandth from his butt licker how Palace will be well organised 😁😁

  4. His knee injury is not news, everybody knows the guys history.

West Ham’s Transfer dealings are a complete joke – surely he’d have to take a strenuous Medical and a decision would be taken if he passes it – putting out scare stories to try and force Brentford’s hand, as it seems to me, is like something a dodgy Market Trader would do – as I said, a complete joke!

  5. There you go Michael you have just proved my point.Going postal over a source or media .report.We have all read hundreds upon hundreds of transfer stories this January so far involving every premier club, how many players have actually moved anywhere.
Calm down mate.If a paper told you a tsunami was about to hit the Kent coast would you believe it.Nope.So why give the media the credit they dont deserve 😁

    • No Tsunami Rads just a 2nd rate football club followed by knuckle dragging pikeys are on the way to the Kent coast 🙂

      • Yeah i read about that over the weekend GW.If it was any other club i would feel sorry for them. But that lot,no it just made me laugh 😁😁

    • Whereabouts in Kent? Nothing on the BBC😁

      • Im afraid if you live in Kent E20 its too late for you to find out now.Its about to hit,you will never out run it 😁😁

  6. I was not impressed with this signing. I have only seen him on TV and I have to say he does not look to have the power or indeed the required speed to unlock premier league defences, He is also relatively small in stature. To me this looks like a poor signing and not what we need. We need pace and power in 3 positions, RB, wing, striker. These 3 signing have got to be correct if we are to maintain our PL status without a struggle.

  7. Said it before and will say it again ; West Ham should have been amongst the big boys from the mid-sixties onwards . But bad management and a selling mentality has seen us be a normal team which yoyo’s between first & second division .
Even at Upton Park we failed season after season or there abouts .
The move to the OS ( LS ) hasn’t helped , but we were never that good anyway .
The air of high expectations has only served to exasperate the fans and the club in general .
I love West Ham United , always have done and always will . But something has to change radically and soon .
The two Dave’s have done us proud and we can’t deny them our support or gratitude .
But , here it comes ; Bilic has to go . We have the players in the squad that are good enough to see us further up the table . Year after year we seem to suffer the same emotions and embarrassment . We are neither a first or second decision club and it’s shameful for a club that has over a hundred years of league history . Heck , we were one of the founding clubs that gave England its rich heritage .
We need a higher quality squad to be more successful of that we cannot deny but , we also need a Manager who can get that squad playing like we deserve our status ; Bilic ain’t that manager and neither were the others before him apart from Greenwood and Llyal .We are plumb out of excuses . Big Stadium , big club , big ambitions , big expectations demand a big Manager .
I know I will get and I expect a lot of bad response and abusing replies but , to be honest it doesn’t matter to me . All I care about is West Ham United and not the reputation of a past player that doesn’t get amongst the Greats we have had grace our club .

  8. Beginning to remind me of the Charlie Austin link- we say we are interested then bring up concern with injury. What is the point? Austin has played 19 times this season and scored 9 or so goals so so much for that insight. Yes I know he is now injured but that is a shoulder injury which could happen to anyone.
No wonder Slav is losing his hair- we really again appear to have gone into this window with no clear strategy about who or what we need. We just name targets that clubs aren’t willing to let go- Defoe, Johnson, snodgrass and then offer a pittance. January unfortunately is like that- I will be very interested to see what we end up with- here’s hoping as ever.

  9. Who has any real idea of the players we’ve asked about or the amounts that were offered? Do some on here have special insider knowledge? If not you are only guessing and speculating. In other words we know nothing for certain so STFU until we have positive proof then have a good old moan up. No point in getting all wound up about something read in the papers. They know about as much as we do= ziltch.

  10. we should stay clear of this guy we will have Carroll sak and him all injured

  11. Survival on the cheap, Dumb and Dumber wrecked Birmingham by running it on a shoestring, before selling out and grabbing a sack full of cash. Now they have it invested in WHU they are following the same road to disaster. They talk the talk but are totally inept at running a club, it won’t surprise me if it was brought WHU for Jacko as a lifesized subbuteo game set. I waiting to hear they have bid 50m for Ronaldo and 40m for Messi but the bids for unknown reasons have been rejected. With the way we have been playing with the players at Slavs disposal you would have thought our expert chairmen would have already lined up targets before window opened and then conducted the business quietly and quickly.

But the truth is they don’t want to spend, remember the 30m striker in the summer, all rubbish just a way to sell season tickets. I wonder how many of the Johnny come Latelys renew ST’s and what’s the bets the 50k waiting list melts into the mist.

You know when they are lying there mouths move.
