EXCLUSIVE: Bilic gives green light to new Song deal

alex-song-west-ham (1)Slaven Bilic has told the club’s owners to pursue the Alex Song deal.

ClaretandHugh has reported that the club had been keen to get the defensive midfielder on board since before former Croatia boss, Bilic, arrived in east London.

Some fans believed these ambitions may have changed due to Slav’s arrival – but we have learned Bilic is an admirer of the Barcelona player and would love to include him in his plans for the new season.

A highly placed Hammers source confirmed that the club are monitoring the player’s rehab programme since he underwent an ankle operation.

He told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “The plan would be to bring him in ahead of the window closing.

“He may not be ready for anything up to six weeks after that, but better that than have to wait until the January window. Slaven is an admirer of the player  and is happy for the deal to go ahead.”

  1. At last he is free so get the deal done,he wants to play for us he will be ready by December
    Move the deadwood out now,
Get a forward in on loan or buy
Get one good winger such as Moses in and we will be set to take our place in the top 8 for the season

  2. I have promised to change my grav if he comes … 😀

  3. He can be a top player when 100% fit, cant we get him to sign a precontact agreement that we will sign him when he is fit again. Just how much does this club want to pay players who cant play for minimum of 6 wks..?

  4. Just get the deal done.Imo he could be excellant this season for us with the style of play Slav is trying to bring to the team.

  5. I have always had the opinion that Song was not performing at his best under Allardyce. Sign him now.I agree with Bubs.Get the deadwood out now. They are choking the full potential of the team.Surely there are striker options available before we revert to signing Carlton Cole again.

  6. Shame we missed out on Kante to Leicester, will be interesting to see how he plays if he starts on Saturday but with that option out of the way signing Song is the next best option, when fit he is a very good player but as many gooners will tell you he has a habit to switch off at times and make overly optimistic passes which can leave the team exposed as he did last season on occaisions.

    • Kante aint even on the same planet as Song, two decent seasons in France, one of which was playing in the second division. If he was such a beast why is he now at Leicester, lol 😉

  7. Agree with you all. Sign him and get the “can’t run any more” high earners out, namely Nolan and O’Brien and for Christ sake do not resign Cole. Far better to persevere with Lee than Cole because he puts a shift in!

  8. We have got to sign Song, but regards a striker, we need to find the money to complete the signing of one the top strikers we have been linked with, the owners seem to be putting all their belief in Carroll, that because of what he has cost, he is the be and end all! I’m not convinced, watching the way we played last Sunday and also if he will go the season without injury.

    • Jaybs I wonder if Carroll will fit in with the new forward setup? He was better suited to hippo’s long ball rubbish.

  9. Song’s prediliction for ‘over-ambitious passes’ may have been related to the somewht limited vision and capabilities of those he was trying to pass to. Not always, but quite often.

As for a striker, we’ll get one by the close of the window. Austin – dodgy knee and £15m with ten months left on his contract? No way Jose. The one I’d like to see is Alvaro Negredo, who terrorised PL defences before falling out with Man City. If he’s fit and he’s keen to come, let’s have him. Should suit the Daves – he’s available on loan!

  10. Lmao,i dont get this arguement about Austin. As many have pointed out,he has played 148 games in the last four seasons. If that is what a dodgy knee gives you then give his dodgy knee to Carroll. We might actually see him on the pitch then, lol

    • I can see your point, and it’s a judgement call that I’m glad I don’t have to make – or fund. Back in 2013, he failed his medical at Hull and they said at the time “unfortunately he has a bit of a knee problem and with the amount of money at stake in the transfer fee the problem has shown up pretty visibly with the scan and unfortunately that has put a stop to the deal.”

Obviously since then he’s joined QPR, been largely injury free and had an exceptional season as they went down.

But what odds that if we paid £15m for him knowing about the potential for it go tits up that he’d have a bad knee inside the first month and join Carroll and Valencia in the treatment room? Can you imagine the criticism we’d dish out for buying a known problem?
