Exiled midfielder faces bleak Irons future

Morgan+Amalfitano+West+Ham+United+v+Liverpool+CswSINzPf6RlMorgan Amalfitano has little hope of resurrecting his Hammers career.

Despite being handed a squad number for the new season, the Frenchman is still out in the cold with manager Slaven Bilic after missing a team meeting.

He was exiled to train with the under 21s a few weeks back and only squeezed into the squad after a deadline day loan move saw Matt Jarvis join Norwich City.

But there has been no thaw in the frosty relationship between the pair and it looks as though the midfielder’s exile will continue into the forseeable future.

A well placed source said: “It’s very unfortunate but the manager has to be allowed to manage. The player is on decent wages but only the manager can decide if and when he will be brought back into the fold.

“As things stand there seems very little chance of a reconciliation – there looks to be no way back the way things stand right now.”

  5. Dickey. Thanks for the recommendation. Looks like we are moving in the right direction with our youth set up.

  6. ….Meanwhile, not many comments about Amalfitano!….He does seem a pretty volatile guy; remember that sending off for his ridiculous slap at West Brom? Was it unfinished business? He was only at West Brom a year!…and getting sent off = big backfire for the team. He can pull some amazing skill out off his locker, but not all that often. I do like him; flawed genius stuff…but can understand how he might be a destructive influence off the pitch. He’s now the fall guy who acts as a big warning by Bilic to ALL the West Ham players “Don’t **** with me”. Sadly, all the time Amalfitano rots in the ‘reserves’ (rather than getting sold on), he serves as a constant reminder of the misery the manager can heap on any player. Wasn’t that Ferguson’s style? He was quite successful, wasn’t he? I don’t know exactly what Amalfitano did, but I am a bit uncomforttable with his banishment…but maybe not encomfortable enough to criticise Bilic in any way whatsoever….
