Former Hammer in fall out with Palace fans

Shirt-swapFormer Hammer James Tomkins allegedly fell out with Crystal Palace fans away at Stoke at the weekend.

Unconfirmed Internet reports- and they are only reports –  suggest he told disgruntled Palace fans to ‘Foxtrot Oscar’ at full time after prolonged abuse of the team during the game.

Palace remain in deep trouble sitting second from bottom in the Premier League on the same points as Sunderland who remain bottom on 19 points.

They lost again to Stoke on Saturday after the heavy 4-0 defeat at home against Sunderland the match before that. Former Hammers manager Sam Allardyce is not working his relegation saving magic at the moment and Tomkins must be wondering why he joined Palace in the first place.

The Hammers sold Tomkins last summer for a initial transfer fee of £10m which could rise to £12.5m based on certain triggers. It is understood he  never wanted to leave at West Ham at the time.

You could clearly still see the strong relationship with Noble and Tomkins when they exchanged shirts with smiles after the Hammers 3-0 defeat of Palace at the London Stadium in January.

If the claims are true I would like to think Tomkins would have never dreamt of telling West Ham fans to ‘FO’.

You never know, maybe he has a relegation clause and could find himself a free agent if Palace go down this season.

I for one would welcome him back with open arms to West Ham.

  1. Hasn’t taken them long to see that he is way out of his depth in Premier league . Best bit of business of the season getting rid for £10m. COYI

  2. So would I Sean . He has been very much missed by the squad.

  3. He will be on a big fat salary at Palaceand if they go down they will offload for £4/5M. I’d love him back at West Ham but I’m not sure Slaven will do what I want.

  4. Well this old bugger hopes we steer well clear of him.Sorry but he is so average its embaressing. He was only held in higher regard than he deserved as a local lad.We stiffed CP massively getting ten million for him.

  5. You can understand the lad wanting a better chance of first team football. With £10m in the bank, Oggie back next year and Reid in blistering form, Fonte as backup and the hopes of Oxford and Burke in the wings, I can’t see them going back in for him, as he’ll be back where he started.

  6. Makes to many mistakes that cost you games,
Shame but he losses Focus at times and you can’t do that at the back
    Jenkinson was the same
Cressie has had his moment this year
We need players the keep focused for the whole game
Kouyate at RB is brilliant he is great in the tackle brilliant in the air can get up and down, why play him in midfield when we have so many that can play there and with Byram starting to take to the premiership we do not need Tomorrow back
Should do well for Hippo in the second tier next season
No escape this year ( sorry wet pants )

  7. Some people need to just move on. He’s only a spot starter for a bottom tier club. Never was more than that. Amazing business to him for 10m. I’m thinking Pards did us a solid. I expect he’ll be playing in the championship next season one way or another

  8. Love Tonks but I’ve watched his Palace games and he hasn’t improved….

  9. We mugged Palace off getting 10 mill for him. There wasnt exactly a cue of teams lining up for his signature.I always apprecited the fact he was a local geezer in our team but as a player im pretty sure he would have got massacred for his performances sometimes if he hadnt been a product of our youth set up 😀

  10. If we could sign him back for less than we sold him for he could be good cover at rb he defends as a right back which against the teams like City etc is a useful option. I haven’t seen too many decent right backs on the market and Kouyate is wasted in that position. Palace are deep in the mire, you can never write Allardyce teams off but it has been a rough time for him and Palace and they have if anything got worse under him so they could go down at which point there would be a fire sale, Townsend, Cabaye, Zaha etc will not want to play in the championship.

    • Thats the point though aint it 32,he wouldnt come back as cover, its why he jogged on in the first place to get first team action.Well he is getting plenty of action in Hippo Heads defence isnt he 😁
