Giroud update

West Ham have established that Olivier Giroud is keen to leave Arsenal and are ready to talk to the player once they get the nod .

The Hammers have also discovered that personal terms of around £100k a week will be required plus a transfer fee of around £20 million for the 30 year old who they would sign on a four year deal.

That would push the finances up to around £37 million for the player who has scored 16 goals for Arsenal in 38 appearances for Arsenal last season.

Giroud wants a permanent move away from the Emirates in favour of more regular playing time and the Hammers are keen to make it happen.

Serious talks between agents have already been held and Giroud sees the London Stadium as an ideal destination.

There is no way of the club recouping any serious sell on fee with the player’s age an inhibiting factor but he is seen as a top target with a goals record of over one in two during his time in north London

  1. This would be a fantastic signing if it happens…

  2. Giroud would be a good replacement for Carroll, they are both slow lumbering players but Giroud is usually fit and is more skilful than Carroll and is more likely to get 15 to 20 goals for us, it is a lot of money but he is proven in the PL and a French international so hopefully we can do a deal.

  3. Not for me…we need to sign a striker with more pace, mobility and energy.

    • I think the plan is to sign two of those also R44get but who knows we will probably start the season with the same forward line as last year and all of them on the treatment table 😄

  4. This bloke score goals, time and time again; a no brainer in my humble opinion. OK, he’s a bit light on his feet, and takes a tumble (a habit which hopefully we can rid him off), but he is a proven Premiership striker. Get him in!

  5. Lol wait until the start of August we will get Gold tweeting that Carroll is over his injuries & is our 20 goals a season striker. It has happened for the last 3 or 4 years 😁
No chance we will get someone like Giroud,Nige will text them & tell them we are a small club 😂😂

  6. I think this would be a great signing and statement. Also, like Teddy before him, I think he could be useful for a few years yet – he has guile and does not rely on pace.

  7. He would be a fantastic signing if we got him and there’s the rub,we won’t.
This is getting to be deja vu all over again

  8. Oh please,as if Giroud is going to sign for use lmao.He will have offers coming out of his arris and we wont be anywhere near the top of that list.

    • Well in that case we should know our place & go to league one to look for new signings, after all who would possibily be interested in playing for such a team as ours. Forget any one from the teams above us (ssh don’t tell Zab who he has signed for)
If the club really want to move forward we have to start signing these kind of players, get success & in turn we will attract bigger players. If we can get two/three of our main targets we will have a squad that can compete for top six this season.

  9. Not for me at 30.would rather go for someone younger. Plus 20 mill seems a bit over the top for a moaning Frenchman.

  10. Totally agree, not what we need – no pace – have we not learned anything from last summer. We bought players who had no real pace. I can just imagine the style of football next season with Giroud and Carroll up top – sorry not for me.

  11. This would be a disaster.

A player who needs numerous chances to score and frustrates Arsenal fans.

We have no ability to make the number of chances Arsenal do, so what use is he to us.

If the club think he is a good option, then they need to leave now, but hopefully this is a placement by Giroud’s agent.

  12. I think he’s a big improvement on what we have but I’m expecting those August tweets about Carroll tbh 😀
