David Gold has given the most ironic of reponses to a Twitter follower who couldn’t understand why there were so many empty seats at the London Stadium on Saturday.
As the club continues to fnd it way through the various problems surrounding the new stadium a Gol follower asked: “Why so many empty seats and I don’t mean b4 half time or near the end @davidgold thought the games are sold out?”
With the club pleading for fans to sit dwn in order to se the capacity increased the co chairman immediately responded: “Yesterday’s game totally sold out 57k tickets. We are yet to be granted a licence for the 9000 empty seats. dg”
Gold added that he is still “hurting ” from the Watford defeat saying: “Disappointing result today against Watford considering we were 2-0 up. I’m still hurting but we must bounce back against WBA next week. dg
“It’s a new chapter in our history, we must all stick together. Remember It’s a marathon not a sprint.@davidgold.
Oliver Holt on the Sunday Supplement made a snidey comment about these seats being covered up at the Stadium, trying to imply that West Ham couldn’t fill the Stadium anyway so what was the fuss all about?
How ignorant can you get!
What Mr Gold didn’t mention is hundreds of seats empty because the ticket trader/exchange/forwarding scheme is still not working.
Lots of seats are empty from people who couldn’t make the game but cannot legally transfer them or resell them. They promise this will be place for the nest game
I will believe it when I see it Sean, I have as much faith in the ticket office support as I do with the current crop of stewards. Do you think it’s likely ?
Do you think they actually care about empty seats? They’ve made money whether someone sits on them or not 🙂

Bored of people constantly banging on about all the board want is money & don’t care about the fans.
Essex tell me where the board are catering towards the fans? The ticket office? The safety issues inside the stadium? The ticket trading site? The fact they sold countless membership tickets at £40 against a capacity that ain’t been signed off? + 2 season tickets to fans of other clubs? Or are they immune to a bit of criticism after promising a better experience for nearly 12 months? And no I ain’t a persistent stander just a ST holder that feels a bit mugged off with all the bull**** that’s been spouted.
Well the fans who used the +2 to give them to other clubs fans are c*nts.Not that I agreed with it in the first place.Still they are retards as I have many friends who took advantage of the +2 but every one of them to a man only got them for fellow Irons fans.
I really don’t believe there are many +2s who gave them to other teams fans,either that or their nobby no mates who don’t know any other irons fans,which I dont believe for one minute.
