Good or bad – the fans must be heard

|

london-stadium-fansClaretandHugh has run a couple of controversial opinion polls over the last week for which we have taken some criticism from fans.

Our first was whether the London Stadium would ever feel like home and the second on whether the fans still backed the two Davids.

Some believed we were attempting to stir up discontent, others believed we were in the business of what is ridiculously described as “click bait.” What are newspaper headlines? Newspaper bait?

Some even believe we are wrong to run polls at all and other criticse our timing!!!!!

Since we arrived three years ago we have adopted a policy of trying to find out what the fans REALLY think and that will never change. We always want to give you a voice in all circumstances – good or bad!

We don’t claim that the poll is anything other than an oportunity for any of our followers to give a view and we certainly don’t have any sort of agenda.

For the record we are happy to go on the record and admit we are pro club and pro board Tht’s our position and it’s as valid as those who aren’t.

We are pleased  both polls have shown the club have the backing of the fans with over 60 per cent saying the new stadium would become home within either a year or up to five.

We are pleased too that over 80 per cent of you gave the Davids your backing. The don’t get everything right – who does?  But they are fans with everybody’s collective interests at heart.

We are not a site that sees everything through the owners’ eyes or one that will avoid issues because they may be a bit controversial. That’s never been our way and never will be! End of  story.

Thanks for your brilliant support.

It’s all very well claiming impartiality , Hugh , but some polls tend to cause problems instead of solving them .

I like this site, I really do, I visit it a few times (at least) every day when I get the chance. The vast majority of the stories and polls are relevant and newsworthy. I think that some stories run here are open to the clickbait criticism and some of the ads are downright ridiculous (there is one that blocks up both sides of the screen including the article and there is no remove button easily visible so the only way to remove it is to reload the page and hope it does not come back).

The polls run ask good questions and do get a sense of what the readers of the site think but they are in no way scientific and should not be used as any official gauge as to how the west ham fans feel about a situation. Online polls are never really accepted as reliable or anything close.

Other west ham fan sites run surveys every now and again to see how their visitors evaluate the site, maybe this is not such a bad idea for this site so Hugh and Sean can adopt the content and presentation accordingly.

The ads are becoming ridiculous. Making it near impossible to view the site on a phone.

Hugh – Deliberately or innocently you’ve misrepresented concerns. Nothing wrong with running polls but think about your timing please. Do we have faith in Slav, the Dave’s and the stadium and all in a short period of time whilst we are struggling both on the pitch and off it. Sometimes less is more.

Thanks for the polls Hugh, there just a bit of fun really I suppose, but interesting to get some feedback from the fans on specific questions.
We’ve had polls on Bilic, the stadium and Sullivan and gold.
I think it’s time now to have a poll dedicated to Lady Brady and her team, let’s see what the fans think.
    What do you reckon Hugh?

I’ll tell you why some people don’t like the polls. Because they only seem to appear when things aren’t going well. when the polls started appearing on this site towards the end of Sam allrdyces reign it spelled the end for him. When I saw the article recently about the honeymoon being over for Bilic followed by the poll asking if he should be sacked. Bearing in mind this was only five games into the season, I was annoyed. I was annoyed because I thought the polls starting signified the beginning of the end for Bilic and that he wasn’t going to be allowed the time to put things right. I was expecting the should Bilic be sacked poll to be followed by who should be next West Ham manager. Though thankfully this hasn’t happened. Yet. Instead you have a poll on the owners. Why, I have no idea. I can only imagine somebody wants to gushed who is more popular with West Ham fans. Bilic or the owners. Maybe someone wants to know what the reaction would be if Bilic was sacked. Would the fans turn against the owners or not? Maybe you should run a poll on it.
