West Ham paid a transfer fee thought to be worth £5.5m to sign attacking midfielder Edimilson Fernandes from FC Sion.
Fernandes is the cousin of former Manchester City and Leicester midfielder Gelson Fernandes. The 20-year-old came through the youth system at FC Sion and has since made 48 first-team appearances for the Swiss club, scoring two goals.
Fernandes made his debut for the Switzerland under-21 team in March 2016 in a 1-1 draw with England. In his second game, on 2nd September 2016 he scored his first international goal in a 3-0 win against Kazakhstan in Biel/Bienne.

Looks good doesn’t he ? He looks like a player that will make interceptions high up the field which in theory should help us to create more chances. He is also supposed to have an eye for a pass and create a lot of assists, might turn out to be a hidden gem, looks like he possesses similar attributes to Kouyate from a physical perspective and he is only 20, very excited to see what he can offer us this season COYI!!!
Came in under the radar, but looks a real find. He needs games early and will probably start in the cup.
5.5 million ? He will be involved in first team for sure . You don’t pay that sum of money and stiff him ! The future looks brill . 😉
