West Ham have this morning confirmed that they are deeply involved in trying to bring Southampton’s Jose Fonte to the club and that the fee will be between £10 million – £12 million.
We were told the club believe they have a 40 per cent chance of making it happen in a transfer market when it was admitted “Prices have gone crazy.”
As we reported earlier both Everton and Crystal Palace are keen on the 33 year old who is reported to be considering various offers.
The Fonte move by West Ham was thought to be in the region of £4 million but a source told us a few minute ago that it would be closer to £12 million.
He said: “It’s a massive fee for a player of his age but the market has gone crazy and there are other clubs in for him. He is a top international who was involved in the Euros for a team who let in very few goals.”

I saw that c&h this c&h that blurb on kumb earlier.i cant be fussed with all this p1ssing in the wind our site is better we are better fans stupidity meself.It is childish in my view.We are all west ham fans so why try bigging yurself up over other fans.
Hasnt it always been the way chaps.Fans think their site is the best & the others are there to be shot down.It isnt a new concept.It has happened for as long as i can remember.
Especially if a new site opens up.The old school go nails out scratching faces.
So we’ll pay £12m for a 33yr old defender despite having quality defenders both young and old but won’t bid more than £6m for Defoe as it doesn’t make financial sense despite desperately needing a prolific striker. I would rather see Kouyate in midfield but not sure if this is really a priority. Also what’s the logic in bringing in a 33yr old to replace a 33yr old? We can’t use Oxford or Burke? The club say the market is crazy yet I’m looking at other clubs like Leicester and Everton and they are managing to get deals done and for semi-reasonable prices. We are supposedly the 18th richest club in the world and either we refuse to spend the required money or Sullivan is so bad at negotiation that we can’t convince others to take our money. Time for a new approach! It’s 19th of Jan and clock is ticking. I wonder how much time Sullivan is spending on Payet’s deal rather than on deals for players we need?
Yeah i prefer Kouyate in midfield instead of defense.I really like Fonte though he has been excellent for The Saints.£12 million is no go for me though i must admit.I think an agreed fee will be much lower though & if it is i would take him all day long 😉
If you look around DJ not many other clubs are doing any particularly impressive business large scale.Some cast offs teams dont want,freebies & the like.Next week it all kicks off 😁
……Totally agree with you! £12m for a 33 year old is far too much. We already have one centre back that age, so we don’t need another! As you say, why can’t we give Burke and Oxford that much needed (and deserved) additional first team experience? West Ham are also reportedly in the market for Scott Hogan for a similar amount. Hogan is a good Championship level striker……if you put Ashley Fletcher in his Brentford team, I’m sure he’d do as well, if not better. So I say, give Fletcher more opportunities other than the odd 10 minutes he’s currently getting.

I find the labelling of fans all rather tedious.The belief from others that if you dont spend 24 hours a day 7 days a week sabre rattling it means you are in the board pockets.Now if fans feel so strongly they wish to do that its fine with me but dont label others who probably think much the same on many issues but do not have the inclination to be so vocal about it all the time.Mouthing off constantly rarely achieves anything.As the old adage goes actions speak louder than words.
My step brother never reads sites.He said he has his on view on things & if you use a certain site all the time your opinions eventually become warped from the same fells always writing the same things.Be it positive or negative.He believes in the end it fuzzies your own opinion & you start to believe what you are reading all the time lol
