Hammers edge to front in race for target

SnoddyWest Ham believe they have edged ahead in the race to snatch Robert Snodgrass from Hull.

The Tigers have now given up their hopes of keeping the attacking midfielder and the Irons have jumped ahead of Burnley in the bid to sign the 29 year old.,

ClaretandHugh was told this afternoon, however, that reports of a £10 million deal should be treated with caution as the club is negotiating a deal which includes add-ons.

These would include appearances clauses  and the like which would bring it up to the £10 million currently being reported.

Snodgrass is believed to be  keen on a move to the London Stadium ahead of Turf Moor but has to make up his mind on one key issue.

He would  be viewed as a squad addition at West Ham rather than an automatic first team starter whilst he would probably become a regular in the Burnley first team.

CandH was told: “The deal is on the table and it’s up to the player to make a decision. We believe we may be slight favourites.”

  1. I hope somebody has pointed out to him that we are always in The Big Six- the injury Big Six anyway! Squad player my foot. He won’t be short of games. The only problem for him will be avoiding a knee or ankle injury in the first two games he plays. Well, he might just get away with a three month thigh strain, or a six week bruised toe.

I hope we get him though. Haven’t seen much of him, but he has always done a good job when I have watched him. I always felt twitchy when he played against us & he got a free kick, although I don’t remember him tearing up any trees in games against us. I think he would play a lot if he comes…

  2. Why do we need Snodgrass ??

    • Because we need a player that can create chances from dead ball situations and score a few free kicks, Feghouli isn’t bad at free kicks, likewise Cresswell but Snodgrass has been reliably good wherever he has played, he is also good at holding the ball up which without an abundance of pace in the side should be a benefit. We haven’t signed him yet anyway if Hull do the unthinkable and he has a visit to Wembley ahead he may decide to stay put until the summer…

  3. Good news i really hope we get him. Will be a really good addition to the squad.

  4. Why do we need to sign anybody in realty .
It’s over half season now and we look reasonably safe ; pending the way Bilic wants to play and his deployment of our squad .
No more room for excuses , plus , we don’t need extra players . Too late for panic signings . We have a very good squad as it is .
It is now down to Bilic to get it together and see this season out with us keeping our Premiership status . No signing now is going to get us into Europe,,, pipe dreams .
First thing we must do is consolidate our new Home and make it ours .
Untill the new season starts I don’t see much point in short cut signings that will be useless within 9 months .

  5. We need to sign because with a couple of injuries we are thin. Some fans have spent 5 months saying all our summer signings are **** so if you stick to that premise then our squad is light. You cant have it both ways.
Also may i say in the most politeness manner available if i get this Thomas Cook pop up appear one more time while im try to comment its heading straight up Hugh or Seans backside.

  6. Kev i said it before mate i have given up on decieding who we need or dont need since we fans sat on sites saying why the effing hell do we need a 28yr old for £11mill from Marseille who has done nothing or why the hell do we want some Argentinian geezer whos playing in the desert.Well they were Payet & Lanzini & stuck our expert opinions right up our butts didn’t they 😁
Worse still some even said why do we want them when we have Downing 😂😂😂😂

  7. A nothing Nothing player. Not sure at all why we are spending so much on him. Kind of player I expect a top half championship team to go for or a newly promoted team.

Massive risk, hope I am wrong though.

Hopefully we will get the Hogan deal tied up soon, now he is a player with plenty of promise.

  8. I really hope we get him I don’t know what the extent of Noble’s injury is does anyone know ?

  9. I always love comments like yours stinger…

And what gives you such insight into his credentials. Are you a Hull fan.If so then i can see you can validate your opinion. If not then how can you make such a bold claim, watching him on Sky 4 or 5 times a year.

I don’t know about Noble Bill i havnt seen any updates.

    • Because I watch football, and guess what I don’t just the Premier League.

I have seen him plenty of times, including live more than enough to form a personal opinion that I think he is a very bang average player.

However I am also very happy to be proved wrong, and should he sign for us, I hope he does just that.

  10. Thought I saw one earlier in the week saying Noble & Carroll were both ok. Noble’s injury much less serious than first thought. But that comes with the usual West Ham injury warning- we have heard this before!

  11. I saw earlier that Chelski are ment to have bid for the Celtic goalie Craig Gordon. Can you imagine some of our fans if we had bid for him,’what the hell do we want a goalie from Scotland for who never has a save to make, ridiculous business’ 😂😂

  12. I’m sure our board said the top four need to be looking over their shoulders at us. Our summer signings and by all accounts our Jan targets all signal to me as a mid table team. Not filling me with any excitement.

    • if you take a quick look at the table over the years since we have returned to the PL you will see that we are a mid-table team. what do you want the board to say… “we are only ever going to want to be mid-table, we have no ambition to better ourselves” ?
the summer signings should have made us stronger but didn’t so we need to strengthen the squad now. Zaza has gone & the ponce is as good as, factor in a couple of injuries & we’ll be left wanting again. let be honest, other than the last few weeks we have been utter **** & even in the middle of the good league run we got stuffed 0-5 by City in the cup.

  13. Stroll on me ol cockers you aint half some miserable buggers.I goes down me local have a proper good natter about the boys with other irons & none of them are as miserable as some of you buggers. They are happy with fonte think snod will be a good signing to bolster the squad & more than happy if we gets hoggie.then you lot only moan about everything
