Hammers goalkeeper set to leave this Summer

raphaelspiegelempWest Ham goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel seems set to leave the club this summer

Reports in Belgium media say “24 year old Spiegel will fly off to Belgium on Monday to take medical tests with Excel Royal Mouscron.  The Swiss goalkeeper is contracted with the Hammers until mid-2018”

West Ham  signed the then teenage goalkeeper from Swiss side Grasshoppers for an undisclosed fee but he has failed to break through. The Switzerland international originally penned a three-year contract until 2015 but later contract extensions took his deal up to the Summer of 2018.

The Hammers have great faith in England U19 keeper Nathan Trott as their priority youth prospect between the sticks and Spiegel has seen his chances of a breakthrough reduce in the last season. Last month West Ham released former England youth keeper Sam Howes after his contract expired. Howes had been at the Academy since he was ten years old.
