Hammers have eyes on Wembley

martin-samuelsen-west-hamMartin Samuelsen grabbed a goal as the Hammers strode into the knockout stages of the Checkatrade Trophy and then declared the team was ready to march on to a  Wembley Final.

Having been on the sick list, the Norwegian international is now back in top form capping a fine performance with the second goal of the game in the 3-1 win over Bristol Rovers.

And afterwards he said: “It was really good to win on the night and I’m really pleased with the team performance.” Samuelsen explained.

“I feel good, I got a little tired towards the end but I’m happy to score and I’m feeling good. I’ve scored those goals ten thousand times in training – worked on those types of shots, reacting quickly, so when I saw the ball I was confident I was going to score.”

“We (Holland and Haksabanovic) enjoy playing with each other, we understand each others movements and I’m very happy to be playing with them.”

West Ham now  travel to Wycombe Wanderers in the group stagessafe in the knowledge that they are now into the knockout stages of the competition.

And Samuelsen has his eyes set on Wembley saying: “I think we can go all the way and win it!” he exclaimed.

“That’s what we want to do, we’re not here to just play and take on these senior teams, we’re here to win. We’d love to go all the way to Wembley.”
