Hammers in action

Cheik Kouyate and Lukasz Fabianski go into World Cup action on Sunday when Senegal and Poland sides take on Japan and Colombia respectively.

Senegal meet  Japan, with a 4pm kick-off in Yekaterinburg.

Senegal got their World Cup campaign off to the perfect start by defeating Poland 2-1 on Tuesday, with Kouyate coming off the bench for the final three minutes as Aliou Cisse’s side held out for the three points.

Now, with four days’ full training behind him, Senegal skipper Kouyate will be hoping to start against Japan, who also triumphed in their first game – 2-1 against Colombia.

Fabianski’s Poland, meanwhile, face Colombia in the day’s third game, at 7pm in Kazan.

The new Hammers signing was on the bench as Poland suffered that defeat to Senegal first time round and they go into this game knowing they cannot afford another defeat.

Senegal’s game will be broadcast live in the UK on BBC One, while Poland’s fixture is on ITV1.
