Hammers missed out on Neymar

|

neymar-barcelona-2017_lrjlxis5zpt13wztjji2gwuwPSG are on the verge of paying an incredible 222 million Euros (£198m) for Neymar and the player will reportedly earn 865,000 euros (£775,477) a week when the Brazil forward completes his world record move from Barcelona to Paris St-Germain.

It means PSG’s total outlay across the initial five-year deal will come to £400m.

Back in 2014, David Sullivan admitted he made a bid Neymar in 2010 when the player was just 18 years old. Sullivan confirmed to ClaretandHugh at the time that he had made a bid worth around £16m. When reports first emerged in 2014 Sullivan told us: “Yes, that’s true – we did.”

Unfortunately, Santos rejected Sullivan’s bid insisting they would not deal at less than the than the player’s £28.4m release clause. The bid from West Ham alerted Chelsea who made their own offer in August 2010 but were also turned down after Pele persuaded Neymar to stay in Brazil. Neymar was born on the February 5th which is the same as the Joint Chairman  Sullivan, Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo.

God I’ve read this headline a million times in the last week. We didn’t sign him, and even if we did we’d have sold him the next season for half that we paid. The West Ham Way lol.

Feb 5th. The day all the football legends were born- Pele, Ronald, Neymar & ..er. ..Davo. I was born almost exactly six months later than this, which I guess is therefore about as far as you can get from football greatness. Sounds about right lol.

I hope we don’t miss out on the likes of Burke, Oxford, Rice, Martinez and Quina by not allowing them to grow in our first team, and/or by selling them on before they’ve had a chance to make their mark.

Just glad we didn’t waste the 16m on Neymar and held it back to purchase the world class porcelain princess instead 😆😆

Who needs 198m anyway when you’ve got a player that will eventually have to be given away at a half time meat raffle 😆😆

  • kevin says:

He wouldn’t have signed for West Ham anyway . Not at all glamorous enough back then .
