Hammers refuse to rule out top striker

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Fulham v Liverpool - Craven CottageDaniel Sturridge continues to be linked strongly with a January move to the Irons.

The Hammers are insisting they have not closed the door on a possible move but insist that others are in the frame.

A club source told us late last night: “There’s been a lot of speculation about him and the club but we are linked with an awful lot players. That’s because we keep an eye on everybody.

It would be  wrong to rule him out. He’s an England centre forward and if he is available in January he would obviously be one on our list.

Former Hammer and pundit Ian Wright feels certain the striker will be on his way in January commenting in the media: “When you look at it (Coutinho, Firmino and Mane’s globetrotting), if Daniel Sturridge – who has just scored for England and is buzzing – can’t get in the team when those lads have done so many miles, he’s got to start looking at what’s going on for himself in January.”

Sturridge is priced at around £21 million by the authoriative website tranafermarkt.com

  1. If we signed him the attack would be very lopsided as both he and Sakho prefer to run the right channel, at the moment it is all looking a bit desperate, his fitness is also a huge question mark, we would have Sakho, Sturridge and Carroll on the books all of whom spend an inordinate amount of time on the sidelines. Defoe scored another good goal at the weekend, would be cheaper and has an excellent fitness record and better workrate than Sturridge.

  2. ‘he would obviously be one on our list’
probably should have read ‘ he would obviously be one on our INJURY list’.
