Hammers wages savings analysed

His departure saved the club £4.8m in wages

West Ham will have are set to shed over £13 million from their annual wage bill once they have offloaded the players  likely to be surplus to requirements under new manager Manuel Pellegrini.

With Financial Fair Play Regulations again being taken seriously across the game – notably at Paris St Germain – the club are doing a wage balancing operation in order to stay within the limits.

Despite that we understand that discussions are ongoing with the French Ligue One club as the Hammers attempt to arrive at a wage figure with which they can cope in order to bring in Javier Pastore.

He is the one player Pellegrini would love to attract to the club and there are hopes that the Argeninian will trim his wage expectations given the French club are keen for him to find a new club.

Were the Hammers to add  £200,000k a week that would see the midfielder on £9.6 million a year – coming close to cancelling out a stroke the savings the club would have made.

And should they complete the purchase of Felipe Anderson on wages of an understood £80k a week that would take the annual total to just over the £13m they would have saved in outgoings.

The Hammers who have either left or are likely to be on their way are:

O Joe Hart – £100k a week or £4.8 million a year

O Patrice Evra £70k weekly (£3.2m)

O James Collins – £50k weekly (£2.4m )

O Jordan Hugill – £20k (£1.2m )

O Sam Byram – 30k  ( £1.8 million)

Other possible departures include Michael Antonio on a reported £70k a week and Edmilson Fernandes (£35k) which would bring in another £5.2m.

  1. Shouldn’t we add to the saving whatever we were paying Joao Mario? Sadly, there is also the compensation element we should get from the Agentinian FA. for Manu which is paying his basic for 12 months or however long he is out. As this looks likely to be 12 months it could fund a season long loan.

  2. 70k for evra 20k for hugill a week thanks moyes for spending silly money wasted on garbage

  3. Tottenham are reputedly now paying Harry Kane £200k a week basic plus add ons, goal bonuses etc which if he scores as many as he Normally does would see him on 300k a week. So I’m thinking if a team like Tottenham who are renowned for underpaying their players and being really tight-fisted can afford 300k a week for their star player, surely we can afford one or two players on 200k a week. Remember that we could afford last year to have the likes of hart on 100k a week and Hernandez on 130k a week sitting on the bench for most of the season.

  4. The market has and is changing, time to face it the best players can command big money, Pastore, Veratti, Pavon etc would cost a big wage, if they play to their potential the team will know they are paid that much because they are better than whats there.
