Hart, Moyes and Carroll: “The fans were fantastic”

|

joe-hart-manchester-city-hull-premier-league_3001982Joe Hart paid a very special tribute to the West Ham fans saying: “It could have gone two ways tonight but they chose to stick with us and they were fantastic.”

We have all been living on the edge whatever our points of view on what has been going on at the club but tonight the players recreated the link with the fans.

The Cockney Boys inside the LS – sparked by a battling display from the team – created a magnificent atmosphere.

And Hart  was a relieved and happy man adding: “The fans were fantastic and the way they backed us meant the world to the players.

“The manager wanted us to perform and fight. And I think we did. I wish we could have got the three points but we battled and the quality will come.”

Andy Carroll added: “The fans were brilliant and the lads did really well – now we have  to make sure we carry on from here – that’s really important.”

And manager David Moyes said: “All the negatives we were hearing before the game became the opposite. The fans were superb.”

The fans made the difference tonight. Now try and say we cant create an atmosphere in that stadium. Great effort from the player carroll was pony but the rest good effort. Moyes methods starting to show a few more games we might even look half decent.

Lots of positives from tonight’s performance. I thought the system was a lot better – hopefully we will not go back to the 4-3-3 system that cost Slav his job. I thought the players worked hard, looked sharper and owned the ball for good periods. Arnie again was my man of the match. Lanzini was much better in the middle as was Kouyate in his central midfield role. I thought Masuaka did well too. Carroll was the worst player we had on the pitch. Ok he worked harder tonight but bottom line he never looked like scoring. Another game another dreadful performance – if Moyes is going to continue with him we will be relegated. Overall though happy with a lot of what I saw from the team.

Moyes methods includes leaving an ineffectual lump on for the full game . He will get the team fit and organized which should be a basic for any manager , but he is old fashioned and loves a target man . You don’t get any points for getting more crosses into the box than the opposition .

Great support from the fans. Good. Great effort & fight from the team. Also, good. Arnautovic looking like he might have a future at West Ham. Better performance from several of the players. Good. Only one point. Bad. In truth, we did not deserve more, but there were encouraging signs. The problem is, after Everton, how many points are we going to get from the next 3 games? If we do lose those 3 games, we will be bottom at Christmas. Definitely not good. I am encouraged by the effort tonight, but we have to get an awful lot better!

    Agree with all comments !
2 points dropped tonight , Leicester came for a point and hit us on the break ! Worst possible result we could get 1 point is like 0 points ! Cresswell zabba and Carroll are simply not good enough ! Why isnt sakho playing ?? Can’t fault commitment tonight so well done but the fans were great tonight !
Please stop showing spire on the big screen its far to bright ! Awfull ! Just keep showing the pitch ffs ! Let’s hope results go for us this week ! Fingers crossed then 😕

In defence of Carroll, tonight he set the tone, despite his lack of pace he ran and chased for 90 minutes, he caused disruption in their defence numerous times aerially and against Maguire and Morgan thats no easy feat, he also showed good feet and held the ball up better. He has been poor for us all season upto today but playing the way he did today with energy and controlled aggression he was an assett. We hit a lot of early crosses into the box and turned their defenders to face their own goal several times, that should create opportunities for Carroll and opportunities for own goals by players affected by Carrolls presence. It takes at least two players normally to defend him sometimes three and that creates the space for other players to benefit.
