How to spend the £75m summer transfer budget

Manuel Pellegrini is said to have a £75m transfer budget to spend this summer.

The Chilean has already said he wants to sign four to five players and is known to prefer younger players. Tonight we look at six players previously linked to the Hammers which could cost a combined total of £75m.

Reports suggest Pellegrini is said to be keen on the 25-year-old Reims goalkeeper Edouard Mendy said to be worth £2m. He could provide inexpensive competition to Adrian next season without spending a reported £35m on Jack Buckland.

Fulham right-back Ryan Fredericks is a free agent this summer and has long been linked with a move to West Ham.

For the Centre back position, Marlon Santos from Barcelona has been linked. The 22-year-old Brazilian had impressed on loan at Nice last season. After making 27 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, Santos has attracted interest from a host of European clubs and is said to available for £20m.

West Ham has long scouted the Belgium international Leander Dendoncker who is also said to have a £18million price tag.

Joao Mario originally cost Inter Milan £35m but he is said to be available for £26m, a bid of around £20m might be enough to tempt the Italian side or he could spend another season on loan with the Hammers.

West Ham has long been interested in Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore, he might just the kind of player Pellegrini would be interested in and at £15m he wouldn’t blow the transfer budget.

  1. I’d leave traore to be fair and look at getting another CB or just try absolutely everything to get Shelvey. His through balls could be the answer to the Chicharito situation.

    • I’d keep Reid as a forth choice and replace on sale. Obiang still offers something for me so wouldn’t sell, Cressie is in the same boat he still has plenty to offer. If they can’t perform under Pellegrini then they go next year.
I’d get shot of Snodgrass. And go for a different type of right winger to Antonio. Agree the rest with hugill and AC sales buying a good young CF.

  2. Forget forwards
    We need:
    A keeper
    Right back
    Left back
    2 CB’s
    2 CMid’s
    That’s 7.
Out – Cresswell , Reid, Obiang, Kayoute ,Hugill, all well past their best and ineffective.
Then if we can get some mad club to take Carol we can then look at a decent forward.

  3. Alfie Mawson??

  4. Think Mawson will go to a club that finished higher than us. If we can nick him that would be amazing. Cresswell I would give one season to prove himself under MP same for Obiang. Reid Kouyate Noble Im not to fussed about, Carroll can do one and to be fair even if Adrian left as long as we got 2 keepers in I’d probably be happy cos he isnt that good.

    • I would keep adrian.
.Looking around there is not an abundance of really good keepers and the ones that are would take a sizable dent out of the budget.

  5. Think we can forget targets mentioned under Moyes
