How we rated the Irons

6MarkNobleAdrian No chance with the goals -as confident as ever apart from those 6

Byram: Defended well – looks very composed – and got forward well 7

Collins: What you see is what you get including one huge error and got out of gaol by Oggy when all looked lost 6

Ogbonna Never put a foot wrong. Have loved this guy from Day One 8

Cresswell: Steady enough but not one of his really great days 6

ogbonaaaSong  Unable to find the trademark killer passes these days. Just okay 6

Noble Great range of passing and fabulous goal – excellent 8,

Obiang Always progressive, powerful and energetic – better bet than Song when Kouyate’s back 7

Antonio: Ineffective on an afternoon when his pace and strength could have been key 5

Payet: The dazzling runs have disappeared for now but big signs he’s on his way back. Good goal and some great passes 8

Valencia Poor first touch and  showing too much of the ball to defenders was a problem 5

Subs used: Moses (7), Carroll (6), Emenike (5).

  1. Antonio and Enner looked absolutely knackered from Tuesday

  2. Not beating any of the bottom five teams away is quite bad. By my reckoning that is 11 points lost. Motivation problems when facing so called smaller teams

  3. Moses showed real hunger and application that I haven’t seen from him for a long while. The bench (and injury time out) appears to have given him extra motivation.

What has Byram done to deserve a 7, when Creswell is rated 6?

Poor Song seemed to have lost his way totally these days. An ineffective 5 for his 5-yard square passes.

  4. I thought Song looked a lot better today. Nowhere near his best, but making progress.

  5. I think Noble will finally be acknowledged as being a much better some think he is. At the beginning of the season I wrote that he was going to have his best ever season under this new manager. Slowly but surely, it is happening.
The one who disappointed me though was Emenike. Slow to react, slow to run, slow to score. Looked completely out of shape.
Song Wasn’t that bad. Just not the shining player from the first half of last season, and that is unfortunately the standard he is being held to.
Perico Obiang is on an upward curve.
Byram did well and did not give much space or options to the bully Naismith.
    Ogbonna was Kolosaal….

  6. Fair remarks, Hugh. Happy to see us coming from 2-0 down, but really worried bout sloppy mistakes in defence. The gap with 5th place is reduced by 1 point nevertheless. COYI

  7. I only watched the extended highlights on sky so not as good a view as any of you who travelled there, like Heisen says both Valencia and Antonio looked a bit leggy, I thought Noble should have warned Antonio for the goal that Brady was behind him, then they scored the offside goal. I tell you who I would give zero out of 10 and that is the ref and the linesmen, they gave absolutely nothing our way and were at fault for the offside second goal. The main problem from what I could see was that we sat off them and let them dictate the game until we were 2 0 down, we really need to learn to pressure the ball better against these average teams and that is what Norwich are, watching todays game you would think Norwich were a competitive midtable team not a team that had lost 6 in a row, thats what it looks like if you let any PL team play. Taking nothing away from the comeback from a team that had mostly played 120 mins midweek and Emenike should have bagged at least one of his great chances but this was another opportunity wasted. If we win at Blackburn all will be forgotten but Slav needs to address our inability to do anything but the fast counter attack, next season teams will be wise to it and will just sit deep and make it harder to pick up points that way. Hopefully Leicester can win the league and do it for the little guys but really we should be right up there with them if it wasn’t for our atrocious record against these mediocre teams.
