Interest grows in former Iron

jermain-defoe-STR_1510278cJermaine Defoe is available on a free transfer and as a result could be on his way to the Irons.

We reported a few days ago  the Hammers remain interested and are exploring his contractual position as it was believed he could leave on a free should the Black Cats be relegated this season.

David Moyes’ team are now stranded in bottom place with 20 points and looking doomed.

And we have been told this morning by sources close to the player that he is available on a free. However, his current wages are around £80k a week which were the Irons to offer a two year deal the deal would cost around £7 million with agents fees and National Insurance.

However, that would be £3 million less than Sunderland’s January requirements which had it gone through would have cost closer to £17 million on two years

Defoe would be keen to return to the Hammers as his career swan song and we have been told Irons officials intend to take a good look at him when we meet the relegation strugglers on April 15 at the Stadium of Light

  1. You would think we have a pretty decent chance, he probably wants to live in London again and is too old for the other London clubs in the PL. The wages shouldn’t be an issue we were going to pay 8 or 9 million for him and his wages in January.

  2. Bring him back at least he knows where the goal is and doesn’t seem to be made of balsa wood and pritt stick like our illustrious so called 20 goals a season China Doll 😀😀

  3. I am think England could have done with him last night he would not have missed the chance Deli Ali did. Yes he would be worth a punt we know he can scre goals as long as he has the right service, it may give us time to bring in other players or perhaps someone from our youth team.

  4. It a no brainer for me.If we can get him get him.
He is still fit, rarely injured and knows where the onion bag is.I have no concern about his age he is fit as a fiddle.Footballers these days are still going strong at his age regularly
His movement and quickness of thought means he knows where to make his runs, when to make them,he probably expends far less energy than some young buck forward who runs around like a headless chicken lol

It still makes me smile when i recall the riducle aimed at the signing of Ibra as a washed up forward of 35 when he signed for Man.Utd.We all know who has had the last laugh there.
It made me want to weep when i read at the weekend that AC was still striving to score his 50 premier league goal of his whole career. It still makes me want to weep now lol
Ibra comes in and will score half of ACs entire career premier league goals in one season in the the league.
Come on fellas someone hand me the box of tissues lol

  5. Yeah get him in! His goals have dried up once the words Defoe & WH started to be spoken together. But then so have AC’s. I think a lot depends on whether Sakho comes back fit & firing. And whether he wants to stay. Him plus Defoe with AC filling in between hospital visits- think I could go with that. But obviously Defoe can’t keep going much longer.

  6. Did you really get told that Irons officials will watch him carefully when we meet them April 15.
What a load of absolute rubbish . Just look at his record , season after season , and the number of games he misses ! Hope it is different people to the ones that looked at Tore , Zaza , Calleri , Feghouli , etc etc as they are obviously clueless .

    IT IS A NO BRAINER
