Interest in released midfielder

|

Diego Poyet has become a target for Championship and European clubs after becoming a free agent.

Poyet and the Irons agreed to terminate his contract on deadline day and the former Charlton midfielder, who has had loan spells at MK Dons and Huddersfield, is open to a move abroad as well as looking at options in England.

Poyet was in demand when he signed for the Irons two years ago and turned down other big clubs in the Premier League.

Poyet parted on good terms with West Ham.

I’m surprised we couldn’t get some money for him even a small amount.. could then have added a sell on clause in case he does make it to the big time

That is a really good point, but I reckon reading between the lines, there is a lot of gloss on this story with words like “target”, as though a morass of clubs are zeroing-in on him.
I would love it to be true, but I suspect it isn’t.
I would like to think Poyet can put behind him what must have been a gradual shattering of his dreams…but it’s not exactly looking like that, is it? His loans could never be called stellar.
I am pleased that WHU have put as few restrictions as possible (complete break), so that Poyet doesn’t have restrictions scaring off any interest. It is now a really tough for the lad. I hope this article helps spark interest…(I was going to quote “Every little helps”…but it was too cringemaking….so I found this cheap way round it!).
I do hope Poyet finds good interest and kickstarts his career again.
