Irons respond to £25m striker speculation

West Ham have responded to reports that they hold an interest in Nice’s Alassane Plea declaring him to be “one of many on the radar.”

The story emerged yesterday that a £25 million fee will be required an that the striker – also being tracked by Newcastle, Burnley and Everton – are keen on the French Ligue 1 player.

The 25 year old has scored 19 times in 41 appearances this term and he bagged four in the game against Guingamp whilst hitting  the net four times in the last three French Ligue One games.

However, whilst the Irons have scouted him, and may follow up,  they have other options although manager David Moyes has more pressing priorities according to a senior club source.

We were told: “He has made a top goalkeeper and central defender his first stops.  It’s known too that we want a top midfielder. Plea looks a good striker but there are others out there we are looking at. “
