Irons v Werder Bremen Live Report: FULL TIME 1-2

|

brementeamsGood afternoon,

Actions from Upton Park will be reported during the build up and over the 90 minutes.

We will remain on the case after the game and bring the quotes as they arrive.

COME ON YOU IRONS

1: Ok they’ve kicked off – let’s hope for a big performance ahead of Romania and Arsenal.

3: Perfect start -ALMOST! Curling Payet free kick just wide

9: Ogbonna right on the case to cut out dangerous cross from Garcia

12: Payet so close again after receiving from Sakho but shot takes a deflection and just wide

15: Rapidly maturing Oxford makes a sensation block from Kroos. This lad has ‘star’ written all over him

19 GOAL Inevitably made by Payet – scored by Sakho. Breaks down right and crosses for Sak to clatter home.

20: Oh dear – Bremen level. Where was the concentration. Ujah’s shot slips under Adrian’s body and we’re all square again at 1-1

22: Simple save for the Bremen keeper from Payet’s edge of the box effort

31: GOAL Ujah gives Bremen the lead with his second – shooting low left footed past Adrian

32: Zarate shot blocked as Hammers scrap back and Kouyate’s effort off rebound goes wide

35: Payet fires straight at keeper off Jenkinson cross – there’s more goals in this one

42: Garcia close with an effort but flies narrowly wide before Vestergaard header past the post.

HALF TIME: IRONS 1 WERDER BREMEN 2

Changes  for Irons with Spiegel, Poyet, Collins and Lanzini joining the acion and  Adrian, Jenkinson, Payet and Oxford going off.

Ok we have our communications back and the Germans ran out 2-1 winners.

Lanzini looked very bright during  slow second half nd Tomkins slotted into the right back spot when Jenkinson went off.

Payet was bright throughout but Sakho needs a partner to play off. There was plenty to admire from a creative view with Payet and Lanzini looking excellent.

Onwards and upwards and FC Astra and Arsenal await.

FULL TIME: Irons 1 Werder Bremen 2

Not looking too good is it … Maybe everything will be ok against Arsenal ??
We have a lot to learn ,, let’s hope we learn quickly .
Let us also Hope that Bilic learns quickly . Or at least not at a snails pace .
I liked Big Sam , but every body got on my back because of it .
Are we expecting too much too soon ??, I hope so , because this season is Massively Vital for the Hammers . And it don’t look good at the moment .
I am backing Bilic due to being a Hammers fan ,, but never wanted or said , or asked for Big Sam to be ousted . Gonna get loads of redicule for this message , but things ain’t looking good with Bilic . Hope it’s just a question of adjustment and settling the new squad and system ,, but my doubts Are already starting to surface . We are trying out the youngsters and that’s fine with me … But the senior players must now be given first spot .
Injuries is a useless argument , as so many of you were so quick to condemn Allardyce with . I really hope we can achieve something special . Bilic must be given time of course .
But just how much time is a question of cult culture .

    • COYI@HK Ching says:

      I understand what you’re thinking.
But the problem why we can’t stand Big Sam is that he seemed to be lost in how he wants the team to play. We have been conceding late goals and even in dead ball situation(where he was very successful with Bolton[especially against us]). Big Sam has never buy into the concept of “West Ham Way” since his very first days, that set him up against many hammers fans…

It’s still very very early and EPL season yet to get started, we have very tough away matches to start with some winnable home ones. We should give Bilic time and patience to see how things work with him. Rome is not built in a day, right?

Pre-season has no bearing on what the final first team selection apart from getting the players ready for the start of the season.

Let’s hope for more entertaining football AND good results in this season. COYI.

  • Stingray Stewart says:

For god sake Kev,come on,knock it on the head. Its a pre-season friendly. Also dont forget your messiah also had a sh*t pre-season last year, lol. Are you going to go back to hippo mode everytime we dont win.Get back on the tabkets Kev.The season aint even started yet & you are back to ‘Sam is a god’ syndrome, lol 😀

  • SlimJim says:

Kevin me ol’ son,if you feel like being doom & gloom join the rest of the disillusioned crew on here

  • Usain Nolan says:

Oh yeah i loved last season Kevin. No away league win since the start of december.Three wins in twenty plus matches after the new year.Oh how i loved that Kevin. No Hippo should never have been ousted as you put it.Ffs,wake up!!!Im sorry, dont mean to be rude but if that is your idea of success i give up!!!

  • kevin says:

Just questioning the reason to have gotten rid of Big Sam … If Bilic proves to be Better then that is obviously better for all concerned . But please stop all this talk about the West Ham way that we havn’t seen for the last 40 yrs .
Stingray Stewart ; I am not all doom and Gloom , but I am struggling to see why or how Bilic is so Special . Feeling disillusioned ,, you can bet on it . Our Defence is a mess and it will prove our downfall in the Prem season , which is on top of us now . Our last chance to prove ourselves is coming this Thursday . Where or what is West Ham’s priority ??, survival in the Prem or European Glory . Seems to me that the two issues are getting very confused.
This is not ” pre-season ” ,,, this is our European chance for the future . We should be taking this , pre- season , a lot more seriously . Oh , it’s just pre-season doesn’t work .

    • Hammerman6 says:

All these comments and not one about the game being played, but to reply to your 40 years comment, We were great when Harry was manager finishing 5th, with Paulo pulling the strings we played some great stuff. Berkovic, Benayoun really good creative players. It wasn’t too bad when we lost The Cup Final to the Scousers in 2006 under Pardew, Its just gone ‘tits up’ really with Grant, (Zola not really his fault) and mostly Alarderci and his long ball regime. So no it hasn’t been 40 years.
By the way have we equalised yet ?

    • Stingray Stewart says:

Im sorry Kevin, but show me anywhere i have mentioned the ‘West Ham Way’.I aint & tbh i get totally p*ssed off with the saying anyway. It is a token saying for everything these days.We get an injury someone says it is the west ham way.We conceded a penalty people say it is the west ham way.We get someone sent off people say it is the west ham way.It is one of the most over used statements on forums & it bores the t*ts off of me 😉

  • kevin says:

Usain Nolan ; I never said ” hippo should never have been ousted ” ,, read it again .
But don’t forget the injuries we were carrying ,, if that seems important now .
Excuses didn’t work for the previous manager ,, but we stayed in the Prem and qualified for Europe .. Under our New Manager we have injuries and red cards , just as under Big Sam .
I am not flying the flag for Sam Allardyce , but only a completely blind fan would condemn him . I hope Bilic does a better job ., but at the moment I don’t think he will .

    • Hammerman6 says:

We qualified for Europe by default, the fact is our midfield was too slow to catch cold, and our solitary striker never touched the ball so we didn’t collect any bookings as there was very little physical contact. Come on that’s not really qualifying is it. We couldn’t even get booked for celebrating a goal after Sak’s was injured because we didn’t score any.

  • MyOldMan says:

All I’m gonna say on the BFS front is that better managers have been sacked for less. Back half of last season our form was that of a side rooted in the bottom 3. No amount of factors excuse that. Its a cutthroat business and one in which you can’t afford to be sentimental. New manager and new possibilities. We move onwards and forwards.

  • Usain Nolan says:

If Hippohead didnt have a contract running out at the end of the season anyway he probably would have been sacked.Im sorry Kevin but all this harking back to good old Sam after the utter dross he gave us really doesnt wash.If you expected Bilic to come in & somehow have a team of invincibles after a month you are crazy.LVG took the majority if not all of last season to get Manure how he wanted or wants them.Guess its going to be people like you though who will jump on Slavs back & cry for Big cuddly Sammy everytime we dont get a result.

  • Michael Miller says:

9,919 there for the game – £25 for Adults, £15 for kids on a sunny Sunday afternoon – someone goofed with the pricing!

  • Stingray Stewart says:

    Yep,bigtime Michael 😉

  • canchaz says:

Seems to me, everyone is worrying about the wrong end of this team with their constant harping on about a striker, while we continue to cough up goals

    • Chicken Runner says:

What the hell you on about this time Canchaz. We let in two goals today, wow, lets all panic.Let in two with ten men against Astra when we were cruising before that.Let in one against Birkikara. In what can be considered the meaningful type of matches we have hardly been shipping goals, especially with 11 on the pitch. You spend too much time over analyzing everything.Give yourself a day off 😀

  • bubbles says:

Slaven not been lucky with injuries but why oh why does he keep picking Noble . He contributes NOTHING .

  • MyOldMan says:

May have something to do with Obiang being crocked and Poyet being a bit rough round the edges. A fully fit squad and with the likely signing of Song I would say Noble is on the bench at best.
Will say though that he has played better with Payet in front of him but still don’t see him as a long term starter

  • Gwonzo says:

And so it begins, pre season losses and the hippo bandwagon rolls into town, so we never conceded goals under the messiah? We scored more under the messiah? We didn’t have injuries under him? The football was exciting and brought you to the edge of your seat? He didn’t lose pre season games? He didn’t buy badly? It’s amazing how rose tinted glasses never fade or the bad times simply disappear with some?? But no doubt we’ll here he did his job, he kept us safe we’re stable now

  • Chicken Runner says:

Yeah because we had a blinding pre-season last year didnt we.It was poo & that was without having to mix & match europe in as well, lol,Bring Back Mud Wallower!!! We lost a friendly, were doomed!! As someone said yesterday, what the hell has happend to some of our fans, like a bunch of manic depressants!!

  • Chicken Runner says:

Just remind me Sammerettes, how did we get on in New Zealand & in the Schalke Cup?

  • Gwonzo says:

Don’t bother Chicken they’ll tell you about the fluid football beginning of last season forgetting it was forced on him due to injuries to NHS and captain fantastic, but always forget about the last 18 games….

  • bubs says:

Where were all the snipers last year before the season started, even us who hated Hippo never got on his back until November when he went back to boring football,
So far this season I have watched great football from Zarate,Payet,Samulsun,Lizani,
    Cullen,Oxford even Magia and Jarvis,
Never saw that for 4 years,
That will do for me,I just want to be entertained and these player are giving me that,
Results are important but have been waiting for them since December,
Kevin you have taken a backward step to day
