Irons will let hunted defender go for right price

Jose-Fonte-640758West Ham are ready to talk to Wolves about Jose Fonte moving to the promotion seeking Championship outfit.

The Molineux club have been linked with the Portuguese international regulaarly over the last few days and the Hammers are ready to talk a price once the Championship leaders make a move.

According to the Birmingham Mail, manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants the former Southampton defender and Portugal international and the 33 year old is now close to full fitness after injury..

With Ogbonn, Rice, Reid, Collins and Burke available for the central defensive positions the Irons will be happy to allow Fonte to move on, hopefully for a similar fee to the one they paid for him – £8 million.

Fonte needs regular football if he is going to make the Portugal squad for the  World Cup in Russia.

Wolves have brought a number of Portuguese players in at Molineux since the arrival of Nuno and it is no surprise to see Fonte linked with a move to the midlands outfit.

Speaking last month, the ex-Porto manager said the club will only bring in players who can add some quality to the side.

He said: “We are very clear, we know exactly what we have to do. When I say that, to come to the squad of Wolves in this moment he has to be something that gives us an increase of quality and different characteristics that we don’t have.”

  1. Fonts , sakho, ayew , pea , = 4 out ? 4 + 3 or 4 needed = 8 players to come in ?
50 mill if were lucky plus £4 – 60 isn’t going to happen is it ?
Let’s hope were not right in our non optimistic views ! Lol I feel even more depressed with the
Non visionary’s and recruited personnel that’s needed ?😟
Then there’s the Carroll saga ! Its a royal mess IMHO, !😉

  2. Works in a 3 but not in a 4 because he severely now lacks pace. This could be a sign that eventually moyes plans on playing 4 at the back long term. (though with cresswell there it actually becomes a flat 4 when we attack and a 3 when we defend with 2 wingbacks, vrey smart).

Anyway, how did we end up with so many centre backs (rhetorical) – it’s almost as though someone didn’t really understand how to build a balanced squad.

  3. Agree Laz & 32 seemed to be more focused on selling then buying & I like that Moyes is hands in & wants British players but have to trust scouts some & watch tape.
BC even without selling we need 3-4 players if we sell Chic will we get Smolov 20th now has typing prob not. And selling for half what we paid if is true.
Fonte I’d be ok with if give Gone a new deal & bring in Dendockner bc have CBs & he can cover but prefer to wait till summer bc Injury issues etc but £6m at 34 might be most we can get.

Shelvey is up for sale not my fav but Moyes likes we can buy Dendockner need DM who can pass ticks the boxes need to make moves.

If Arnie Noble or Lanzini get injured what then.
They have to give funds up Swansea have about £40m to play with now doubles there original figure.
We should have that & I’m sorry if Moyes who I like but cant be so picky especially in Jan & have some good available tgts DS should step I’m & biy or do his loan thing.
Bc if we get 2-3 injuries & sell 1-2 players none come in forget staying up
