With Senegal knopcked out of the African Cup of Nations, the Lions were knocked out in the group stage after a a 2-0 defeat to Algeria.

As a result Kouyate could well train with his team mates at Chadwell Heath tomorrow before travelling up to Anfield on Friday.

Sam Allardyce has options in midfield so he could give Kouyate a rest and save his comeback for their crunch home clash with Manchester United next week.

Co-chairman David Gold tweeted: “Senegal were knocked out of the of AFCON tonight. Cheikhou Kouyaté will be returning soon and could be available for Saturday. Dg”

Senegal remain angry with the Hammers as striker Diafra Sakho was ruled out of the January tournament with a back injury but came off the bench to score the winner for Allardyce’s side against Bristol City in the FA Cup on Sunday.
