Leroy: Irons need to take leaf from Spurs book

LEROY (1)Sorry but I see nothing but defeat tonight!

Spurs arrive for me as the best team in the land. Like Slaven I believe they are a better team than Chelsea and despite the fact that as a Hammer I don’t like them, I have to respect and admire what’s been achieved over there.

From the recruitment of the manager, through the development of young players such as Kane, and brilliant buys like Alli and Wanyama, there is nothing you can do but show total admiration.

And it’s that policy which West Ham need to look at and start taking a leaf out of their book. Ok, I know nobody is gonna like that very much but it’s as well to be honest because until we do the Irons will continue to stutter and stumble along.

Spurs can play any formation – 3-4-3, 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-1 – with comfort. They have the players to fit any system… 16 of them without spending mega fortunes.

They are also a team full of big players of six foot or more and there’s quality everywhere. It would be very West Ham if tonight we found a way of beating them but I really don’t see it happening

I watched them against Arsenal and it came as a shock when I realised the only player that would get in that team from the Gunners was Sanchez.

West Ham meanwhile had a shocking summer in the market and here we are again without Carroll or Sakho available. As I have said so many times this season, that has to be addressed big time at the end of the campaign.

As a former player I know there’s nothing better than a Friday night, starting in twilight and seeing the lights come on – it’s the best time in the world to play football and that will give the lads a boost. The other one they need will have to come from you.

Give it large give it loud and who knows… but with hand on heart I can’t see us getting anything form this game.

  1. Oh no not more doom and gloom. Am I logged onto the wrong site? Tottscum wont get a sniff. Adrian will stop everything. Kane in Winstons pocket and Alli an early bath before halftime. Ayew Lanzini boom boom. 2-0 the Irons.

  2. Oh The Sun today has a brilliant article today on Ginger Pele. That guy loves our club. Yeah I know praising The Sun is punishable with a flogging on the blogs but well it’s a great read and brings a smile to my face despite all the gloom.

Good article about Levy in there too sadly and clearly sets out what the Dave’s need to copy.

  3. Well im sorry young Rosie but i cant bring myself to admire them.Im sick of reading some of our fans getting stiffies talking about them and Levy.
Some of them should bugger off and support them.

  4. Thy’re a good side – no one finishes that highly consistently without being good, but they are pretty much Kane, Alli and Eriksen. Stop Eriksen getting on the ball will be key tonight. Should get someone like Fernandes to do to him what Herrera did to Hazard the other week.

  5. I have been suggesting we copy the Spuds on the training department for well over a season now, if our players were as well trained as theirs we would be in a similar position, many of their players looked ordinary before Pochettino got there, his training is what has transformed them, we should be looking for a similar manager or ideally telling Bilic to emulate what he is doing with his training, I don’t actually think their football is that great they just grind teams into the ground with their fitness levels at this stage of the season the results of that are magnified because most squads are pretty tired, they on the other hand are still hungry.
