Leroy runs rule over the January targets

leroylogoSo it looks as though the Hammers have two main targets before the window closes – Scott Hogan and Robert Snodgrass and together they will cost anything up to £25 million apparently.

scott-hoganThat’s the market place now though and clearly it has gone daft but it is what it is and nobody can complain about the board not splashing the cash even though neither look nailed on to walk into the team.

Hogan is a young striker and should we spend the £10- £15 million  it will be for a player with a lot of potential but I don’t expect him to come in and claim an immediate place or – as they say, hit the ground running.

Andy Carroll is always going to be first choice when fit with Slaven playing one up and Hogan although the boy from Brentford will be a useful addition to the squad. I like the club investing in such players because I was one of those when they came for me.

£10m -£15 m seems a lot of dough but it’s where we are these days and he looks a good bet to help deepen the squad.

robert_snodgrass_21-07-2014_1Robert Snodgrass is a versatile type and I wonder where he’s gonna play given that his primary position is wide right.

He can play behind the main strikers but it seems extraordinary that we could be paying the same for him as we did Dim Payet!!!

However, I am not against the signing as he’s another with plenty to offer and the pair of them would start to give us real depth.

I don’t mean this with any disrespect to Robert but sometimes decent players can look very good players in a poor side and I’m afraid that’s the case with Hull City.

There’s a fair bit in his game and he’s a proven Premier League operator which is a big plus and he’s another who would be a squad addition rather than a “walk in ” first teamer.

One thing is for sure though were these signing to happen it’s great to see the board splashing out such sums in January.

  1. I have raised the white flag of surrender when it comes to transfer targets or aquisitions. We read fans whining all window that we need to buy players then when we do they say we dont need them (based on their supreme knowledge of our requirements)…No win situation with some.

  2. Lmao yeah its good isnt it Col.We dont spend the board are tight,we spend & the board are wasting money on players the experts THINK we dont need.It just goes to prove that there aint no pleasing some geezers…

  3. This we dont need him talk is exactly the same as when we signed Fonte then a day later Oggy is out for the season & its oh ok we do need him.
Anyway its all a load of bolloxs,if we were going for Manolo Gabbiadini from Italy for £13 mill some fans would be wetting themselves even if they aint watched him before because he must be good because he is a foreigner.Where as Hogan must he sh*t because he plays for Brentford in the Championship 😂😂

  4. Snodgrass is going to struggle for game time. We have already Lanzini, Obiang, Noble, Kouyate, Fernandez, Antonio, Nordveit and Feghouli in midfield.
Hogan is worth a punt though.
Still no links to a right back?

  5. You know what if Bilic wants these players, the board can afford it & the budget is going to be there for the summer then it aint my problem. If they have a plan in place that will do for me without it involving discussions from fans 24/7.Im only jealous they have the time to bullsh*t all day.Lucky b*stards 😁😁

  6. They are office wallahs Lama. They pretend to be working but spend all their time surfing the net, talking west ham or watching porn Lol

  7. Whoever we get there all mingers anyway 🙂

  8. If any of you want a laugh take a look at an article in the Express by a geezer called Bruce Archer (although don’t read it if you are in a bad mood or you might chuck your laptop across the room). Apparently the Payet fiasco is all our fault. Poor little Dimi has been let down by the club because of its lack of ambition which has driven the poor little chap to find a more ambitious club. He then goes on to contradict himself by saying it is ‘all about family’ ( different point altogether ). Finishes by assuring us that Payet is not a mercenary. Blimey, how much would you get paid for this ****?

There is a link to the article on West Ham newsnow. Warning- not for those with a short fuse.

  9. Thanks H64 i will sniff it out.I could do with a laugh this afternoon from the express clowns lol

  10. I read it .It needed some violins playing in the background for the last sentence..
“This isn’t your typical mercenary story. This is a human story of someone who isn’t enjoying their work life enough for it take priority over their home life anymore.”
    What a numpty Lol

  11. I hope if we get them through both the signings will be decent and although not walking into the first team they should be competing for a place fairly quickly, a lot has been mentioned about Snodgrass but you can’t argue that he creates chances he is also excellent in dead ball situations which with our aerial threat is very important, likewise he can hold the ball up and wait for play to develop something that Antonio for all his qualities is not brilliant at, when we have been under the cosh that has been an area of concern. If Payet doesn’t play again for us which is highly likely is the real question the long term solution on the left wing ? All of our wide players seem to prefer the right wing and Snodgrass would be the same, perhaps we should give Fernandes his run in that position ? or maybe play Masuaku as left back and Cresswell further forward ? or perhaps keep Antonio on the left ? personally I was disappointed to see Browne loaned out although it would have been a gamble he is very comfortable wide left and has the pace to hurt our opponents. As for Hogan I am sure he will need a period of adjustment but if you can judge the championship against the PL he looks sharp with good movement which other than Callieri is an area we have also been lacking.

    • 32 i think i said i went to watch Brentford with a mate who supports them.Hogan did look very good,he made some great runs & kept the defense really busy.He doesnt seem to drift in & out of matches he really got stuck in.I mean it was only one match but there was a lot to like.Tell you what as well he is a tough little geezer he didnt get knocked off the ball he was really up for a good battle.
Put it this way i wont be writing him off after watching 10 minutes of youtube clips like some experts 😂

  12. I go two paragraphs in & quit.My fuse is too short right now.Freezing my nuts off in a house with no windows in it while a brickie tells me how amazing they are.Enjoy the warmth office boys 😁😁

  13. £20-25 million is a lot of dosh for two players who are at best Championship level players. Robert Snodgrass has played two and a half seasons for struggling Premier League teams – big deal. He is not exactly someone that can’t get into Manchester City’s starting XI is he?
I can understand why West Ham would be interested in Scott Hogan with the lack of striking personnel at the moment. But for me, someone like Jay Rodrigues or Shane Long at Southampton is the calibre of player they should be pursuing. If Hogan is signed, he won’t play much – unless there’s another period of bad luck with injuries. He’ll hang around the squad for a couple of years, scoring less than 10 goals and end up back where he came from at a massive loss to the club.

I don’t want to see either player signed by the Irons.

  14. Have you ever even watched Snodgrass if you think he is at best Championship level.Sorry TRB but wrong. And what the hell has him getting in to the Citeh team have to do it.If thats your benchmark for a player who we should sign we are screwed big time 😉

  15. Stroll on trb if you thinks snodgrass is only champs standard im glad you are not in control of our recruitment. No one would be good enough for you

  16. Neither Snodgrass or Hogan is worth the hassle . 15m for Hogan is rediculous and as for Snodgrass things are getting silly . Both these players are well overpriced and neither one of them can improve our team .
Total waste of time and buying for the sake of buying when in reality we don’t need anyone untill next season .
Hogan is better than who ??… Snodgrass is better than who ??.
Sakho is coming back after repairs and Carroll / Antonio / Lanzini / Fagourhi are capable enough to see us through untill the end of the season .
In fact Carroll & Antonio is a dangerous combination .
Why don’t we just off-load the French turd for as much as possible and wait for the summer . Our season is over and Survival is the game now .
We will not qualify for European football no matter how much we may want or need it .
The time to look at a bit of rebuilding imo is during the summer break with the money for
That toad in our hip pockets .
We have a good enough squad to see us through as it is and we don’t need low quality over priced players which are no better than we already have .

  17. So then kevin these are overpriced low quality Snodgrass overpriced at 10 i give up.Why is it our fans moans about anyone.I was having a natter lastnight with a load of footie fans all saying snod would be a top signing coz they all rated him but no not our fans no blinkin chance
    i gives up

  18. You talk a lot of sense Kevin if it was just about out starting XI but it’s not and Sod’s law says some of those XI will injured. Hogan and Snodgrass will be good additions to our squad and will doubtless get loads of game time.
