Lisbon chief softens on Carvahlo and the Irons

bruno-de-carvalhoSporting Lisbon president Bruno de Carvalho will listen to West Ham and try to conclude a “soap opera” between the two clubs if a new offer is made for William Carvahlo in January.

With Slaven Bilic possibly the major victim of the Portuguese/Anglo tragedy when the two clubs fell out in dramatic fashion as talks broke down, de Carvahlo now seems ready to talk again..

It could be argued that it was the Irons failure to sign the player which led to the horrible goals against flood which put paid to the Croat who desperately wanted the defensive midfielder.

But now de Carvvahlo is reported as saying: “There was this soap regarding West Ham, but it is not interesting, it is not important because there was nothing. English clubs do conduct themselves in a good way although they are not perfect but there is no perfection in the world. But it is good to work with them.”

Moyes could be the beneficiary of Lisbon’s softened stance with the new manager set to be given funds to try and bring the player in this January.

Asked about any possible West Ham interest, De Carvalho said: “It is not good for anybody because the fans deserve better, the truth, our respect. The fans are the most important thing at the club.

So if we finish what was a strange soap, let’s see. But I don’t know if they will finish, because it was very, very strange. But I continue with a very good impression of the English clubs.”
