Macca’s ratings on a bad day at the office (again)

CandH’s regular ratings man Niall McDonald delivers his marks on the Hammers performace against Man City

Adrian: Couple of regulation saves – no real chance with the 4 that went in 4
Zabaleta: Heroes reception from the Man City fans was as good as it got 4
Ogbonna: Probably our best defender today 6
Rice: Added ‘own goal’ to his collection of learning experiences – reacted well 6
Cresswell: Beautiful free kick. Point deducted for continually turning back when passed the ball 5
Evra: Surprise selection kept close to Sterling, forcing Pep to move him wider 6
Noble: Dusted off the ‘lob the free kick over the wall for someone to volley’ routine – it’s still never worked 5
Kouyate: Never seen a player recover from being poleaxed so many times – limitations clearly shown 4
Lanzini: Looked on a par with the opposition in possession. Maybe tiring just before losing the ball for the 4th 6
Fernandes: One surge down the right was the highlight 4
Arnautovic: His disallowed goal showed that it was possible to get close to it. Saw very little of the ball 5

Subs
[* all 3 subs shoulders’ sank as the 4th went in while they waited to come on]
Masuaku: Had a short period where he got forward down the left; didn’t have his crossing boots on 3
Jaoa Mario: Made little to no impact 3
Hernandez: Looked rusty and distinctly unhappy 3

  1. Not sure what game you were looking at but giving Evra a 6 would suggest it was a different game to the one I was looking at – he was terrible.

  2. Thats surely Evras last game in a West Ham shirt. We just need something against Leicester or Everton.Moyes needs to give Arnie a strike partner. Its soul destroying watching him plough a lone furrow because the manager is so ultra cautious.

  3. 5 for Arnie?? he was one of the very few still genuinely competing in the final 30 mins .Seriuosly, he was worse than Evra??

  4. Every game this nugget has given ratings on hardly anyone agrees with him. Hugh, do you have anyone else who can fill in this slot? McDonald needs subbing!!
