Manager/player power forces Payet out!

payet4ClaretandHugh can confirm that West Ham have agreed to sell Dimi Payet back to Marseilles and it was manager/player power that forced the deal through.

Slaven Bilic and the squad have put enormous pressure on the board to get rid of the trouble-making midfielder and the board have bowed to their wishes.

But they have agreed add-ons of £3 million and a 25 per cent sell on clause should Payet be moved on which given his background of seeking his own way is of course more than possible.

Sky Sports sources broke the news first but West Ham were quick to confirm to CandH the details of a deal which will be greeted with relief by the majority of fans.

It wipes out the costs of the double £18 million swoop on Jose Fonte and Robert Snodgrass and leaves cash in the coffers for deadline day swoops should the Irons choose to spend.

A top source told us within the last few minutes: “The deal is virtually done – the manager and players want him out and there is a big 25 per cent sell on fee involved as well as other extras.”

  1. Au revoir, its sad, but was almost inevitable given his history…. thanks for the memories (last season!) – United we stand!

Ps, the 1m loyalty bonus seems ironic, what were the terms of that and does he have to pay it back I wonder?

    Onwards! #coyi

  2. Thanks to Bilic and to the players for the help!

  3. Blackfit sad spud with nothing better to do.

  4. If true thats a very good sell on clause ready for his move to China next year..

  5. That Frenchman was never our Greatest player , blackfit18 .
Seems you know absolutely nothing about West Ham . That man was hyped up so much he even conned the supporters and manager . I never really saw anything so special from him . He was good , yeh , no problem , but to be our Greatest ever player is insulting to the Legends we have and have had .
    He could never hold a candle to the likes of Brooking , Moore , Cottee , Macavenie , Bonds , Brush , Scissons , Hurst , Peters , Rednapp , Martyn , Devonshire , Allen , Pearson , Grieves , Sherringham , Cross , Best , Cole , Zemorra , and a host more .
Will be glad to see the back of the little French bum hole . He stopped us progressing and it. Isonly now that we are realizing the fact . Too late for Europe or any Cup , but better late than never . Hope one day we knock Marsielle out of a cup with that sheeet playing .

  6. So is that £25m plus another £3m in add ons – presumably when Payet has made a nominal number of apprearances?. Then an additional 25% of the £60m that the Chinese Premier League could pay for him in a year or two? 🙂

    • Yeah thats right TRB,its going to be our little pot of gold when he naffs off to China next summer 😁

  7. I just hope this was very much a one off and we won’t have this in future windows again with players and their agents trying to do a Payet on us, forcing through a move on the cheap.
Make no mistake, we blinked first. Marseille and Payet got their wish.
I am happy with the sell on fee though…

  8. I dont know about us blink first Hamburg.I was talking to a French friend yesterday & the OM fans had more or less taken it as a given Payet would be signed. He said if he wasnt the OM fans would have a big black mark against the new owners.I think they were boxing themselves in a corner just as much. How often do you get a player like Payet & a club agrees to a 25% sell on clause to get a deal done.
Different ways of looking at it i suppose buddy.

  9. Colin, you may be right, in the long run this may turn out to be a decent deal for West Ham. But Payet got his wish and this is what angers me.

  10. Yes i know what your saying Hamburg but it isnt often anymore you see a player not get their own way.Still judging by the headline maybe Bilic wanted him gone in the end for the sake of the club/team moral & unity.Who knows mate.

  11. Re Kevin’s post did anybody else get as far as Paul Brush and start laughing?

  12. As to the deal itself the board know what’s best. They’ve taken it as far as they can take it. They’ve made £15M on Payet and there are add ons and sell ons. That’s good enough for me. We move on.

  13. I dont know John.you will always get some sad fans who have to start quoting the Chairmen from some time ago.Followed by the west ham fans resident mouth making some pathetic remark.
